That gave me a good hearty belly laugh.

"Ralf Schumacher already turned down an offer from one of the new Formula 1 teams but did not accept the offer."

He turned a team down, but they didn't accept his offer of not driving for them?

Holy engrish batman.

My guess is someone tried to change "Ralf Schumacher was already offered a drive from one of the new Formula 1 teams but did not accept the offer" into "Ralf Schumacher already turned down an offer from one of the new Formula 1 teams" and just shat all over themselves in the process.

Have you ever seen that episode of Family Guy, where Stewie and Brian clone themselves, only the clones come out slightly off and a bit retarded....???..... Yeah, that's what happened in the Schumacher household many years ago.

Flavo Flav's ban has been overturned by a French court, but the FIA says they will appeal. Pat Symonds 5 year ban was also overturned.

Gotta love the French legal system.

"Sorry FIA/F1, you're not allowed to not employ these cheaters. If they want to work in your organization, you can't say no, even if they conspired to risk a driver's life to help another driver cheat to victory."

How does that make any sense?

They surrendered to the overwhelming force of lawyers. :(

Who the hell is going to hire him though? Would you if you had anything to do with Motorsports?

There are drivers, most notable Mark Webber, that have Briatore as their manager that don't want to give him up. Personally, as much as Briatore sucks, he's a personal friend of Ecclestone, and that's a good connection I'd like to have if I were a driver picking my manager.

So far FIA has stated they won't renew a SuperLicense to any driver that employs Briatore as their manager, which this lawsuit would overturn. I don't really have a problem with that... but I would have a problem w/ Briatore being in a position where he would be making race-day decisions. They should have upheld that part of his ban.

Maybe he's back at Brackley sweeping the floors with the third driver broom.

Which is a shame cause I always liked Heidfield.

Who?

I thought USF1 was gonna get a Renault driver... but I thought it was going to be Kubica because Renault threw in the towel.

MattR 2010-01-26 07:57 PM

More importantly, why is a guy named Maria?

sybir 2010-01-26 11:39 PM

More importantly, how do you solve that problem?

I'll be here all week. Tip your waitress!

With no re-fueling now the top 10 drivers must start on their qualifying tires

What?

Does that mean that Q3 doesn't allow tire changes, or is everyone going to just duck into the pits to put on new tires just before the checkers come out?

skimonkey30 2010-01-27 01:24 PM

I'm going to guess option B. With 5 minutes left, go out and make an ultimate lap run, then with 30 secs left pull in and change onto fresh rubber and dont head back out

Dean 2010-01-27 01:33 PM

Perhaps it means you have to start on the tires you set your fastest lap on so they dart in and out every 3 laps?

And now the reveal of the McLaren MP4-25

http://www.autosport.com/gallery/index.php/id/1931

The shroud fin looks like its integrated with the rear wing. I'm guessing that's legal, but wow.

I think Renault did that in the past, but only for a few races... like at the last Montreal race and Monza or something IIRC.

sperry 2010-01-29 09:27 AM

Also... Button needs to get a drivers suit that fits him.

And here is the official video from the launch. Verdict? Lewis and Jenson get along very well (or so I'm told every 30 seconds).

Nick Koan 2010-01-31 09:52 AM

Petrov confirmed as Renault's second driver at the car launch. And they went with their awful yellow/black livery from a while back.

Well that was quick. A B-spec car for ferrari before the first one has been tested

http://en.espnf1.com/ferrari/motorsport/story/7644.html

Nick Koan 2010-02-03 09:29 AM

Virgin Racing released their own car. The first car designed all with CFD and no wind tunnel work.

http://www.f1technical.net/news/14125
http://www.formula1.com/news/headlin...0/2/10395.html

So, we'll see how that works out for them.

Nick Koan 2010-02-03 09:32 AM

Also, Stefan GP, which bought the resources of Toyota when they quit, doesn't have an entry but has shipped a container with their cars and gear to Bahrain for the opener.

http://www.crash.net/f1/news/156476/...r_bahrain.html

Either this guy has money to burn and is ballsy, or he knows something we don't.

sperry 2010-02-03 10:28 AM

Two things:

1) That Virgin car is hot looking!

2) Stephan GP actually seems ahead of Lotus, Campos, and USF1... I'd say they have a decent chance of making the grid if one of those 3 fail to make Bahrain. And even then, if they're there and ready to go, I can see Bernie strong-arming the teams into accepting a 14th entrant.

MattR 2010-02-03 10:46 AM

Agreed, that virgin car is bad...

Stephan will be on the grid...I agree Scott, the fact that they're ready and the others are ???, Bernie will let them run.

Nick Koan 2010-02-04 10:32 AM

And here it is: Ecclestone push for Stefan GP in Bahrain with BSC in the cockpit.

The Force India VJM03. Nothing exciting to look at, except it seems they are doing the same thing as McLaren, having the engine cover fin connect to the rear wing.
