Sure... second only to the view from the cockpit.

Also, he now has a chance to team up with JPM again.

Prediction: JPM crashes Kimi out in lap 1 of their first race together.

Kevin M 2011-03-29 10:35 AM

Maybe they goal is to move to a Nascar series so they have the opportunity to crash each other out multiple times per race.

I hope there is in-car audio for that.

"Bienvenido a la NASCAR, perra"
"Tervetuloa NASCAR, narttu"

Well, we're running 1 drop this season. Lemme know if you want in before Malaysia and I'll open up registration for ya. You just can't miss a second round!

skimonkey30 2011-04-04 07:59 PM

Sounds good open it up. I'll register wednesday night after I get to Tahoe.

It's open!

Anyone else, feel free to join too. You won't be at a huge disadvantage as in seasons past. Bob? Cory? You guys follow F1 right?

MPREZIV 2011-04-05 07:00 AM

Yeah, but not closely enough anymore to try to analyze races and pick drivers and whatnot. Ten years ago, I'd have been all over that, but I just enjoy hanging out with friends at 1:30 in the morning on a Sunday and watching these days.

Bob Danger 2011-04-10 04:44 PM

Lotus Renault GP looks really good this season. Despite Petrov attempting to grow wings.

MattR 2011-04-10 06:31 PM

They need a special edition General Lee paint scheme on Petrov's Renault. Ridiculous, and it cost me FF1 points.

I wonder how his back feels after that.

Nick Koan 2011-04-12 06:06 PM

Probably like that steering column felt.

In other news, the Austin circuit announced their official name. Circuit of the Americas. They also announced that MotoGP will be racing there as well. They also have extensive plans on how to use the facility when not racing. And, in fact, they expect racing to only be 30 days a year there.

MikeK 2011-04-17 09:54 AM

What a great race China was. I vote that they get rid of all the crappy street circuits. Real race tracks only from now on.

Nick Koan 2011-04-17 09:55 AM

Yeah, that was an awesome race. Best dry race in years.

sybir 2011-04-17 07:50 PM

Hell yes. Really enjoyed the whole race - rare these days, lol.

sperry 2011-04-17 09:34 PM

+1

Fantastic race, start to finish. I can't believe Webber was able to make up so much ground after that awful qualifying, eqspecialy without KERS. Something even worse must have been wrong with Vettel's car, he shouldn't have had such a tough fight with Hamilton. But whatever the reason, it was awesome. I hate to say it, but the wing gimmick, shitty tires, and qualifying red flags are actually making the races more interesting. I feel guilty for enjoying the manufactured parity.

skimonkey30 2011-05-08 08:48 AM

Perfect place to put the DRS zone that made for some great passing going into turn 12

Agreed, the teams and the stewards are putting this change to good use, the races are pretty awesome. I'm loving the manufactured passing! Even grumps like Dean may enjoy watching a race now.

I'd like the battle for 1st be as exciting as the rest of the field.

Yeah, but what are you going to do... Vettel is a great driver, with the best car, and so much confidence he's fearless. Hell, even that massive practice shunt couldn't slow him down. The man is already turning into Schumacher reborn... which must be tough for Schumacher who's struggling just to score points.

Nick Koan 2011-05-16 10:46 AM

Off track drama time!

So, a week ago or so I read this
http://jalopnik.com/5801540/f1-drive...ght-club-fight

Quote:

Force India's Adrian Sutil and Renault majority shareholder Eric Lux were apparently involved in fisticuffs following the Chinese Grand Prix at a night club called M1NT. Sutil left with scars, Lux walked out of a VIP room bleeding, and Lewis Hamilton had to be removed by bodyguards.

Sutil was whisked out of the country to avoid any legal charges in his quickest finish of the year. Details of what actually happened are not expected because the first rule of F1 Fight Club is "you don't talk about F1 Fight Club." The second rule is "always bring at least two bodyguards."
And then I just saw this:

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/91458

Eric Lux is going to be filing a criminal complaint against Sutil.

Hah.

sperry 2011-05-16 10:52 AM

Sutil is a badass. Not only is he an F1 driver that plays concert piano and speaks like 7 languages... he'll also kick your ass.

Nick Koan 2011-05-27 01:06 PM

The Lotus naming thing is all done! Or so it seems. Both sides claiming victory.

Team Lotus gets to continue to use the name Team Lotus.
Group Lotus gets to continue to use Group Lotus, as well as Lotus (with no modifiers).

It looks like Group Lotus won more, but not the part about forcing Team Lotus to change their name, so they are appealing.

http://adamcooperf1.com/2011/05/27/t...ns-legal-case/
http://adamcooperf1.com/2011/05/27/g...se-name-in-f1/

So... yeah. That clears it all up.

I assumed it was the next remake of Death Race.

It was probably better on tv. I think I have trench foot from the walk back to the Metro. :unamused:

MattR 2011-06-14 08:24 PM

We just watched the race tonight, it's hard avoiding results for two days. With the rain delay, our DVR didn't catch anything after the red flag. Luckily speed had it on replay this morning. Good race on TV, Jenson had an incredible run. Hope to see you when you get back Scott, I'd like to hear about the trip.

sperry 2011-07-28 09:31 PM

Wow... sounds like fun.

Reggae star Shaggy and pop singer/songwriter Rick Astley have been added to the musical line-up for this year’s Singapore Grand Prix. They join headline act Linkin Park plus Glee’s Charice and trip hop producers Massive Attack, all of which will be performing in Marina Bay this September.

Nick Koan 2011-07-28 09:40 PM

I would think that they should do a "It wasn't me" and "Never going to give you up" mashup, but Linkin Park would just fuck it up.

Bob Danger 2011-07-30 11:39 AM

I hear Austin TX got pushed back to November, and Turkey is off the calender for next year.

Furthermore, David Coulthard didn't let a silly thing like lack of pavement stop his enjoyment of the Circuit of the Americas.

That may be the most awesome hoonery in an F1 car ever.

Do the demo cars have extra ride-height adjustability and air filters for this sort of think?

Dean 2011-08-22 04:27 PM

Forget traction, they would have thrown more dirt too!

I heard they where in Willow Springs, letting Tom Cruise take the car for a spin. Red Bull and Coulthard that is.

In other news Bruno Senna will be taking Heidfelds seat? Is Lotus Renault giving him the axe?

Next two races Senna is in the car, Heidfeld has launched legal action against the team so its to be seen if Senna stays in the car for the rest of the year
