That is a cool piece of engineering... Better than the Leave Me Alone Box that turns itself off.

I don't want to get all political in this thread, but the secret muslim made a pretty funny ad about his tax policy.

I have no idea why this is so awesome except that adding puppets to anything makes it 100% better.

...so yeah, how's that water car working out now? I'm sure it was totally legit, considering 2 years later there hasn't been a peep about this. Where's that water powered military HMMV?

Scott you know as well as I do that the government stole that car and have it stored in their warehouse next to the ark.

That's about as likely a scenario as the whole "water converted to hydrogen and oxygen on the fly for use as fuel without a net loss of energy" thing. So I guess if it actually works, it's just as likely to be covered up by the gov't.

BTW: I'm not saying the torch doesn't work... but that's plugged into the wall... instead of acetylene gas for the plasma torch, it's a torch fueled by hydrogen generated by on the fly electrolysis.

Nick Koan 2008-10-28 04:24 PM

Which, from a safety perspective is very nice since it takes highly volatile gases out of the workshop.

BUT, if standard electrolysis theory holds up, it takes more stored electricity to run on water than gas. Its just moving the fossil fuel burning from your car to the power plant.

Air race plane loses a wing in flight

Dean 2008-10-29 08:51 PM

While the physics of recovering and a knife edge landing are entirely possible, that video looks pretty fake.

In a aerobatic plane of that type, it could probably also have been landed like a helicopter on the tail as it likely has more thrust than weight.

MikeK 2008-10-29 09:25 PM

The comments on the forum where I found it seem to indicate that it was cgi, done as a viral marketing thing by the guy's sponsor.

100_Percent_Juice 2008-10-29 10:28 PM

If that looked real to you for even a second then you need to get a new pair of glasses or a new monitor.

Offhand, it looked edited, i.e. multiple runs. Besides that, I also vote for a SuperBA rating.

MattR 2008-11-17 05:33 PM

I'm sure it's been edited, but I still love it.

Multiple runs or not, the part with the segway was awesome.

Multiple spins/Rockfords through the barn >>>>> donuts

He said the maneuver through the barn/hangar was more impressive than just doing donuts around a guy on a Segway.

100_Percent_Juice 2008-11-18 11:24 AM

thanks. I am too young to know what a rockford is. I just watched the video again and he only did one spin through the garage. I did that when I first got my wrx and it only took one take. Whether it was intentional or not is beside the point.

ScottyS 2008-11-18 04:21 PM

The ability to control the front inside corner......if I had money I would buy that.
