Though, I must say this one was a little weak, compared to last week's.

We're witnessing the democratization of music.
Wha...? Music has always be "democratized". Anybody is free to sing, whistle, hum, tap their fingers, and just about anybody can afford a harmonica or a gawd-awful 'recorder' (both of which btw are not so bad ergonomically speaking). How much does a game system cost again?

The Guitar Hero game reminds me of the air guitar contests they used to have in the 80's. When are they coming out with Air Guitar Hero?

Music is certainly *not* democratic these days. Try to make an original song and get in on the radio or in the mainstream without a record label, advertisers, lawyers, etc. Underground music isn't underground 'cause it's "cool", but because all the radio stations are ClearChannel, and all the record labels are RIAA.

I meant the making of music is "democratic", not the manufacture, sale, promotion, and/or distribution of it. Somebody's music need not be spread to the masses to exist and be democratic. Perhaps that kewl new game "Record Producer Hero" will "democratize" the sale and promotion of music, kinda like Zoo Tycoon did to the building and managemtn of zoos and Roller Coaster Tycoon did to the design of coasters.

You know, I just realized that part of the problem with this thread is that some people are approaching the making of music from a personal entertainment standpoint, and others are looking at it from one of business/marketability. Or doing both but getting them mixed up.

Zeropunctuation rocks. :)

I propose they replace the musical notes with flying guitar/drum tab.

The resemblance is uncanny, it's the hippy version of Barry!

I played Call of Duty the other day as well and Solitaire at some point in the past year.:P

I already know I can't drum but didn't do bad at vocals at least when I mostly knew the song/words and it didn't require button mashing. :)

It was fun, and I be contacting labels on Wednesday to start bidding for my first "album".

Autographs are $25 each from here out, but SEECS memebrs get a $5 discount.

Bayley (and I) got a PS3 for christmas. My sister and brother-in-law brought us up Guitar Hero III. It is really fun (and I'm older than Dean). I especially like all the free online play as well as access to all the free demo games!

In real life I do actually play guitar. There is no similarity what-so-ever, but it is a blast. Bayley kicks my butt on that game. I get so pissed off, I hand him my Gibson and say "play this little dude!" After he stops crying I go back to the guitar hero game.
