Dewey 2009-04-05 06:09 PM

A1337STI 2009-04-05 06:42 PM

I ran into Szucchet down there and tried to figure out how to run on hoosiers. pulled a 51.9 something at the end but i think the other AS Guys got 51.6 and 51.5 . a 4th fellow got a 53.something. Lots of fun. really only took me about a 20 minute longer drive than usual, would have prefered to run in reno, but Still a great day. :)

Since we still havent had our first event, I have time to update my mod list hehe. Probably wont have this stuff done my next weekend, but will all be good for hawthorne for sure.

Suspension:

Vorshlag camber plates, buy($450) and install
9k front KW race springs, buy($100) and install
10k rear swift springs for KW's, buy($178 ) and install
(all these are coming from Drew at GTworx)
alignment, neg 2.5 front and neg 1.5 rear 0 toe (current setup, but needs a touchup after suspension mods)
remove passenger rear KW and send in to fix stripped top strut nut, this will wait till I go out of town next
WORKS rear pillow ball mounts, buy($249) and install

Wheels/Tires:

Powdercoat my 18x9.5 enkei NTO3+M's in either Robispec orange or puss out and go with gunmetal
Kumho v710's 275/40/17, bought and waiting for arrival

Engine:

GM 3port map sensor to replace stock BCS, bought needs install
ETS lower intercooler pipe, sitting in garage 6 months needs install
Samco red radiator hoses, sitting in garage 6 months needs install
WORKS 3 inch o2 housing, sitting in garage 6 months, needs to be sent to swaintech for white lightning
Mil.Spec ported and polished exhaust manifold, sitting in garage 6 months (see a trend?) needs swain as well
Retune after each, even those rad hoses! j/k

I think thats it. Ive been really lazy on sending out my parts for swain and figured I would just put it all on at the same time, so I need to get on it. Ive been seeing evogreen 20g's cheap lately so Im really thinking about it come tax time, but who knows. I need to at least get this stuff sitting around done, preferrably before hawthorne.

Does anyone have any tips for a first-timer that will make things go more smoothly? I ran the PDX last weekend without a hiccup (although my uppipe is still leaky), so I shouldn't have any problems with tech. Reading through the rulebook, it looks like I should be running in STX? (02 WRX, TBE+uppipe, aftermarket springs, reflashed ECU) I need to bring a copy of the first page of the rulebook also, correct?

Also, how long does the event usually last? I have to be back for work by 5pm, so I'd have to leave around 3:30ish. I'd hate to have to bail and not help clean up, or whatever else needs to be done.

Hope to see some of you out there; I didn't recognize anyone at the PDX (not that I'll recognize anyone at the autox), and I was one of only 2 Subarus out there.

MPREZIV 2009-04-22 06:20 AM

If you're a first timer, you don't need the rulebook copy. That's only for people getting annual tech. inspections, which you can't do, being new.

If you come for the morning run groups, (be there no later than 8 am) you'll be out of there mid-day, so getting to work by 5 won't be a problem at all!

And there will be a larger group of Subi's than two. More of us auto-x than PDX. See ya there!

Here's a list of things that you should bring if possible, but they aren't mandatory.

masking tape
tire pressure gauge (check your tire pressures after every run)
helmet
water sprayer (for cooling your IC before runs)
sun screen
wear shoes you can run in
sun hat
drinks in a cooler (though cold water is generally available for free to all)
folding chair

Make sure your oil reads at the high point on the stick too. Oil starvation is bad (not good).

If you run Novice, you can run morning and afternoon or just morning or just afternoon. With modified boost, you'd be in ESP if you want to run a class other than Novice. If you do that, park next to the yellow wagon when you grid and I'll be happy to help you out. Or park far away from me and we can ride in eachother's cars the first one or two runs, provided there are at leat 10 or so cars between us.

There are four run groups per day. There is the 1st run group of the morning, the 2nd of the morning, the 3rd run group in the afternoon and then the 4th in the afternoon. Unless you run Novice or RNP (Run No Points), your run groups are predetermined (see renoscca.com).

This weekend the Run Group order will be WBYG on Saturday and GWBY on Sunday. Those letters each represent a color that in turn represents a group of classes. The position of the letter tells you which run group that group of classes runs in for the day. ESP happens to always be in the Green group so I'll be running 4th on Saturday and 1st on Sunday.

If you run 1st, you work 2nd and vice versa. If you run 3rd, you work 4th, and vice versa.

Hope that helps.

It's the best way to stretch the tires really tight on the rims so that they don't slip during hard cornering.

Thanks, that's exactly what I needed! I just got buried in homework, so I'll see if I can still get out. :(

cody 2009-04-23 12:54 PM

I can't make Saturday, but I will be there on Sunday. Unfortunately I don't have any money to drive though. :(
