I get them for the itunes store by searching for aboveandbeyond. You can also get it from their website: http://www.trancearoundtheworld.com/ and clink the radio link.

I tend to find Above and Beyond to be a little too trance-y for my taste. But about half of their stuff/remixes are pretty cool.

I'd pull it down on my iPhone right now and give it a listen if they would friggen support iTunes downloads over 3G. Looks like I'll have to wait 'till I'm home over the WiFi.

I will say though, the Pandora app works over 3G. That's pretty damn cool.

I love the Pandora app, but something happened and it wasn't working anymore. I used to listen to that everywhere.

cody 2009-10-19 02:00 PM

Thanks. I remembered this thing called Google and am listening now.

Dean 2009-10-19 03:16 PM

I know I am going to regret asking this, but I cannot remember the name or artist of a song I was trying to tell someone about last weekend. It is a relatively recent Pop song...

It is a story/list type song, kind of like a mix Fountains Of Wayne's "Stacy's Mom", Avril Lavigne's "Sk8ter Boy" and Billy Joel's "We didn't start the fire" I can only remember a bit of the chorus where they are listing off a bunch of pop artists names the only one I can remember being Madonna. The vocals sound like FoW...

let the ridicule begin, but does anybody have a clue what song it might be?

Pandora is limiting you to 40 hours a month or something silly like that. Once you go over that, you have to pay $1 for the remainder of the month (and its unlimited after that).

I don't know if that's your case or not, but its caught a lot of people off guard.

cody 2009-10-19 03:26 PM

I just switch to Last.FM or something similar until the end of the month once I hit my 40 hours. :)

It's saying I have to create an account and when I try to and it says that my activation code is expired. :(

Cody- I need to look on the blip.fm as one of my friends is always posting up songs to listen to.

cody 2009-10-19 04:29 PM

Blip.fm seems nifty. Good sound quality too.

sperry 2009-12-28 02:41 PM

For you trance/progressive/house folks...

Way Out West got back together on a new album called "We Love Machine". It may not be quite as good as "Intensify" or "Don't Look Now", but it's got Nick Warren's signature all over it, and that man is a electronica god as far as I'm concerned.

MattR 2009-12-28 04:17 PM

Agreed, WOW/ Nick Warren > *

In other Reno Music News..

Anybody gonna be going to the new Reno Knitting Factory

http://re.knittingfactory.com/

Phoenix is gonna be there 1/27 which I'm certainly planning on going to.

It might be a game changer for Reno as far as venues go....

scootyc 2009-12-29 08:46 AM

Phoenix for sure. Going to see the Roots there on Friday too. So happy that there is a real and respected music venue here.

MattR 2009-12-29 09:23 AM

Phoenix should be a good show. I'd like to check out the Knitting Factory soon.

A sort-of announcement for what is Trent Reznor's new project with his wife called 'How To Destroy Angels'

http://howtodestroyangels.com/home.html

A 40 second video with a little bit of music and one photo is all that is on the site now. New EP due this summer.

MPREZIV 2010-04-30 10:59 AM

I always forget about this thread...

Deftones new album. "Diamond Eyes"

Amazing.

The end.

The 'How To Destroy Angels' EP is out for free download (or you can buy a physical disk if you want).

Its like a mixture of recent NIN mixed with Massive Attack. Which is a good thing in my book.

A1337STI 2010-06-01 03:52 PM

Awesome! =) i'll have to download & burn this when i get home.

started playing their youtube playlist thingie. Wow really good stuff. who says you don't get something for nothing!

A1337STI 2010-06-02 03:16 PM

I finally got to listen to this, it's fantastic. Apparently How To Destroy Angels is Trent Reznor and his wife. They are planning on releasing an album next year.

Check out the video for the first song on the EP, wow:

sperry 2010-06-04 08:21 AM

I bet they lost their entire deposit on that hotel room after filming that.

Dean 2010-06-04 12:12 PM

You guys must be getting old. I would actually listen to that. :P

First 1080p youtube video I've seen. Watched it on the 50" plasma with 5.1 surround. The burning girl part is crazy.

van 2010-06-06 07:02 PM

This should generate some interesting comments. Korn is teaming up with dubstep producers for their next album. Here's Korn and Skrillex.

oh......oh god.

no.

what?

I love the idea, and I love Korn, but I hate when what's his face, the singer of Korn, get's all whiny.

For some reason I want to buy a Ford truck now.

I will say though... Skrillex is awesome and incredibly tallented (esp. when you consider he's like 19 or something). I expected more from him... sure Korn's not much to work with, but check out what he did with that god-awful Gaga song (it gets awesome at 1:30):

Get rid of the chorus (hell, get rid of Davis altogether) and I could get into the song. I think the sounds actually merge well together. Then again, I'm a horrible judge of music these days.

True. But I do love his voice when he's not whining. I was just listening to old Korn this morning...posted it on my wall on FB and everything.

I almost went and saw Skrillex at the Knit a while back, but it was a weeknight.

Korn peaked when they played themselves on the Scooby-Do Southpark episode. Everything else they've done is utter crap IMO.

 I like a couple songs off Life is Peachy (I think Got the Life is on that album). Not sure if that was before or after that episode. Issues was pretty bad though. I think that's what their last album was called.

There are only a few korn songs that I am willing to listen to and I really don't like admitting to that. Follow the leader has "Got the life". The only time I will have them in a playlist is when I'm about to smash some weights or play football. "dead bodies everywhere" will always get you pumped up. I also like "blind" but most of the song is pretty slow. This gives me an idea for a thread.

I'm not usually one that likes to get into the debate of live instruments versus sequencers, but this is pretty slick

A little hard to call that "acoustic", but it was certainly "live". Really goes to show just how deep the parts are in that song, which is one of the biggest advantages of tracked music: you can place layer upon layer together without having to have a huge orchestra.

Seeing a bunch of people coordinate together to play the piece, even if they're using a ton of techo stuff to make it possible, is pretty awesome.

Nick Koan 2011-10-05 05:05 PM

Yeah, I don't think anyone is calling that acoustic

And there is definitely some special theremin type attachment on that bass (or the dude is just really into the wub wub). It definitely shows off the amazing power of sequencing. Makes it much easier to compose multi-leveled music.

sperry 2011-11-05 12:40 AM

This isn't "new" music by any stretch, but I just found this mix of Harder Better Stronger Faster. Friggen awesome!

Nick Koan 2011-12-13 09:41 AM

Well, if Korn and dubstep don't mix for you, how about Christmas songs and dubstep?

sybir 2012-01-23 11:10 PM
