Sometimes, you just have to roll a jeep though.

JonnydaJibba 2007-02-15 08:24 AM

Bobby said something about this u-turn being "eeleegull." Whatever that means.

Oh Yeah, I never said it was legal!!! It was very similar to the uturn that took out Scott's SVX...I do it all the time though, I suck.

Did you turn into oncomming traffic, run someone off the road, and hit their mirror? 'Cause the legality issue w/ the guy that hit me wasn't because he made an "illegal u-turn", it was because it was reckless driving.

MattR 2007-02-15 12:37 PM

Actually, it is a Legal u turn....I was always taught that if you can see at least 200 feet in either direction, and will not hinder traffic in either direction, you are good to go. I used a opening in the median also, it just doesn't have a turn lane cut out.

FYI:

NRS 484.337 Allowed and prohibited U-turns; additional penalty for violation committed in work zone.

2. If an official traffic-control device indicates that a U-turn is prohibited, the driver shall obey the directions of the device.

3. The driver of a vehicle shall not make a U-turn in a business district, except at an intersection or on a divided highway where an appropriate opening or crossing place exists.

4. Notwithstanding the foregoing provisions of this section, local authorities and the Department of Transportation may prohibit U-turns at any location within their respective jurisdictions.

5. A person who violates any provision of this section may be subject to the additional penalty set forth in NRS 484.3667.

I'm good to go.

sperry 2007-02-15 01:24 PM

Sweet, NRS 484.339 might make that idiot who turned in front of me not just reckless but also in violation of the u-turn law. I don't know that you can see 500 ft around that turn.

Either way Mr. Scott, you had the right-of-way (IMHO).

That too, but the letter I got from the company claims the driver said I was speeding.

Which I wasn't. Plus the 1st words out of his mouth were "I didn't see anyone" which makes me wonder how he could not see me and estimate my speed.

Sounds like you have got yourself a strong case.

Joeyy 2007-02-15 01:58 PM

Right-of-way is more black and white then speed. Are you going thru insurace companies now?

I haven't filed the claim yet, but I probably should. Being sick for the past few days has put a delay into getting this solved.

van 2007-02-16 08:42 PM

I went Sears again and sighted a blue wrx with maybe speedlines?? And then when I was leaving is saw a green l with a big ass spoiler.

doubleurx 2007-02-17 09:17 PM

That reminds me, we need to do another Ski day soon.

MattR 2007-02-18 08:47 AM

I've seen this one here in Reno, across from Starbucks on S. Virginia.

I was around when the guy and his SO (maybe?) came out.

Me: "Nice OBS!"

Guy: "-looks at me like I'm crazy-"

Me: "-inward sigh- Wtfever.. "

Saw someone (02-03 WRX, RBPish) in my rearview mirror, flying down 395S between Red Rock and Stead this morning ~ 8:40ish

Was my bumper on fire? 'Cause I could have sworn you were trying to get up there and put it out for me. I appreciate the thought though.

I was a minute (damn it) late to work, so I couldn't drop back and say hi.

wrxkidid 2007-02-21 11:50 PM
