Pep Boys has a "universal" rad hose that's just a spring reinforced flex hose that will fit just about anything. I used one on the SVX temporarily when my upper hose sprung a leak until I could get one from Subaru.

They just don't bend on a small enough radius. The lower hose has to go from the front-facing thermostat housing on the NA engines over to a WRX lower hose location. It's a pretty short S-shape. I had to hack up a couple hoses and use a cheap adapter. (That I still don't entirely trust, one failed on me earlier today, but I re-created it with slightly different size hoses and after 20ish shakedown miles it seems to be okay.) I have enough hoses and another adapter just in case. I am going to be checking the summit catalog for something a little beefier for the coupling thingy. Anyway, the distance between the two outlets is maybe 8" and an inch or so longitudinally.

I can't imagine your lower rad hose is more convoluted than the SVX's upper hose (it's a bear). It was a chore to get the universal hose to bend enough, but I got a few thousand trouble-free miles out of of until I replaced it when I had the motor out.

Autox is on a delayed start due to snow. But it's melting quickly. Looks like the first two groups will run it the wet

wrxkidid 2009-04-25 03:14 PM

where are you guys running now?

MattR 2009-04-25 03:43 PM

Today was at Fernley. Hopefully, they'll be wrapping up soon. We'll be at it again tomorrow.

k-dogg39 2009-04-25 05:35 PM

Damn you NEMESIS!

It's actually not all that complicated, it's just too bendy for the flex hoses. There would be some room to take up a bigger loop between the driver's side head and the frame rail for the one coming out of the radiator, but it wouldn't clear the radiator tank going in to the thermostat housing.

So, I can't find on RenoSCCA when ESP runs tomorrow, morning or afternoon? And I also don't have any magnets/numbers so can I just use tape tomorrow?

cody 2009-04-25 08:29 PM

We run 1st, work 2nd. Glad I'll have some company, I ran ESP alone today. Lots of people use tape. No problem.

MikeK 2009-04-25 08:39 PM

Did anyone take the computer home? I haven't gotten any results to post up yet.

WRX06TR 2009-04-25 09:15 PM

Ug, I gotta get up early...lol. So, how was it today cody? Yea you have company but not much competition...lol

No, I think Jerry was working timing in the afternoon, I couldn;t stay. The timing crew didn't seem to know what was supposed to happen, I ended up loading all the people and setting up the event, but it's probably ugly. I think you need to go over it with them again.

cody 2009-04-26 06:00 PM

Today was a blast!

That course was extremely challenging today, the times were all very close. I had a ton of fun too. I think the SCCA crew will have more of the kinks worked out by the next event.. It's so great to have so many of us from SECCS out there too, seriously, there were like 15 of us this weekend. Very cool., I hope everyone's planning on going to Hawthorne, I know a few said they were going.

Today was super fun, I just need to learn how to drive

WRX06TR 2009-04-26 07:18 PM

Today was awesome! Great learning experience with the new stuff on my car. The track was incredible too! I hope I can get enough coin together to make it out a few more times....

wrxkidid 2009-04-26 08:27 PM

are they running on on the track at fernley or down on the skidpad where they do the MSF class?

On the upper portion of the track, which leaves the "horsepower" course available for open test and tune sessions.

wrxkidid 2009-04-26 09:30 PM

nice i wish i could drive. Maybe i will make it out to the next one and help out...or be lazy and just bum rides and watch

Hawthorne w/ a bunch of SECCS people would be just like old times!

...too bad I'm going to be busy hustling an '85 VW around RFR for (hopefully) three 2-hour stints.

sperry 2009-04-27 03:43 PM

I just happened to take a glance at the SM results for last weekend...

Cory, you were just 1.1s and 0.6s off Matt's times? Holy crap man... if you had a little extra horsepower in that RS you'd be mopping up Street Mod!! Very impressive times considering Matt finished 5th and 8th in PAX and has an easy 100hp on you.

And nice work by Kevin Weiss to sneak in between Matt and Cory on Sunday. Matt, you're still the SECCS benchmark, but you're going to have some competition this season in SM even w/o MikeK running!

SM is for poor people.

Definitely should be an interesting year! Hoping to give Matt some competition.:D

Cory and I both coned away 36.0XX on Sunday too, so it could have been even closer.

cody 2009-04-27 04:06 PM

I coned away a 36.2 in the afternoon. My only 36 of the day. It's good to know my car is capable of greater things than I am.
