Looks like here is the mostly undisguised version of the 08 STI.

I like those fender flares.

I don't like that tire in the air... I thought the rear suspension was supposed to be "improved"... 'course that's mostly a front suspension issue that's lifting the rear tire.

sperry 2007-09-20 03:08 PM

Also... roll cage and race seats? Does Subaru really push the STi that hard during final testing like this?

Those pics are older so they may have addressed it.

Looks like this is just lifting because of the carousel. The older one looks like it may be lifting for the same reason.

Also, the first official photo was released today as well.

Its kinda artsy and dark in parts. But, it shows a little bit.

At least they went all-out on the flares! Maybe we can finally get some usefully wide tires under there.

Please note the positive front camber as well still.

Here is an interesting mode of advertisement in the UK.

They are just driving around with them like this.

The upside down cars have had their engines and transmissions removed as this is solely advertising, not actual vehicle shipment.

waste of space?

cody 2007-10-02 03:39 PM

Ghey?

Kevin M 2007-10-02 04:18 PM

That's pretty awesome actually.

JonnydaJibba 2007-10-03 10:40 AM

I think upside down cars are tight.

M3n2c3 2007-10-03 08:12 PM

It's pretty clever.

kidatari 2007-10-04 10:59 AM

The car carrier is pretty damn clever.

And the most recent silhouette photos make my pants tight. The new WRX=oogly, the new STI=has potential.

Here are some Official Pictures of the JDM STI
http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.au...10/sti__05.jpg
http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/09/o...preza-wrx-sti/
According to a scanned brochure on IWSTI specs are
(308PS) 304hp/6400rpm; (43kgm) 311lb-ft/4400rpm
(mm) 4415 x 1795 x 1475
(inch) 173.8 x 70.7 x 58.1
Weight 1480kg/3263lb (1470kg/3241lb for 17" and 18" BBS option)

If they follow the trend of 20 more HP for the USDM model than the JDM model...

Nick Koan 2007-10-09 09:40 AM

I kinda like the wheels on the silver one.

Overall, I think they look pretty good. Much better than the WRX.

sybir 2007-10-09 10:07 AM

I'd hit that, like 9 times. Looks hot as hell. If I hadn't bought Dave's car, I'd definitely be grabbing one of the '08's. Proportions are perfect.

Kevin M 2007-10-09 10:19 AM

I dig it, even in silver.

Dean 2007-10-09 10:25 AM

I think in general they have lost the 30+ or 35+ crowd with the hatchback, but maybe it is just me.

Hatchbacks remind me of the Rabbit's/golfs, Hondas, etc. mostly driven by teenagers and early 20 somethings as first or second cars.

I bet they just pushed that market segment/demographic to the much more mature looking Evo despite it's snubbed nose.

The older Coupes even look much better IMHO.

I'd drive one as a race car, but would prefer not to have one as a daily driver.

Now all you need to do is shake your fist and yell 'DAMN KIDS!'

New STI is hot. I hate myself for saying that, but damn. Subaru actually made it work.

And those 5-spoke wheels are lovely.
