You guys sound like college kids...I wanna come hahaha

20psiMR 2009-05-17 10:28 PM

This is so gonna rock! And Matt I bet you still beat me with the kum ho's on, your just kinda fast like that hehe. I didnt get a chance to get the new springs and vorshlag plates with having to pay for the new house by my lonesome.

Heres an interesting question...I dont want to ruin my RE-01R's daily driving so Im going to set my camber with the street tires on. Specs are 18x9 245/40/18's. Lets say I go -2.5 up front, and then bolt on the 17x9.5 275/40/17's, will the camber change? More neg would be better.

Cory does alignments right? Wonder if I should bring it to him and just load the extra rims in the trunk and we can check it out hehe. Cory if you see this shoot me a PM, need to get those tires mounted as well.

wrxkidid 2009-05-17 10:39 PM

Changing your wheel/tire combo will not affect your camber at all.

Like Robbie said, the camber won't change, however, if the tire sizes are significantly different, the width between the contact patch of your front tires can be larger or smaller, affecting your stance that way.

Also, just for piece of mind...Negative camber alone doesn't kill tires aggressively, it's the negative camber + the resulting toe-out that causes the scrubbing that kills tires. So long as your toe is 1/32 to 0 you're safe...Greater than 1/16 you'll start to see accelerated wear.

I'll probably fuel up at Chevron on Vista and I80 before heading out. Probably closer to 3 or 3:30 actually. PM me your cell number, we can talk before then and choose a time.

Its not looking good for Hawthorne, I may have to skip this year :( Had to move into the new house, and since I needed help now I have to help my friend move this weekend. Such is life I guess, but I needed outta there with the quickness!

MattR 2009-05-24 06:07 PM

OMG! Hawthorne was awesome this year, what a great track. I sure felt like the Reno group did a lot of the work for this event, but oh well...I'm used to that.

Anyway, one of the most open and flowing courses we've seen, 3rd gear sweepers, a little bit of 4th in the STI, fantastic. I think I can speak for everyone on this board and say we had an awesome time.

Reno Region won for the 11th straight year, without the use of the street tire modifiers.

Gilbert De los Reyes took #1 pax overall...such great driving, hope to see some of your in-car Gil...

sperry 2009-05-24 06:32 PM

Nice job Gil! When I heard the RS was gonna be out there, I almost wished I was going to Hawthorne instead of LeMons.

I'm glad the event was a good one! It's nice to see the event getting back to "normal" with regards to the course design and fun factor.

Everyone on this board who went, anyway. I agree, this was one of the funnest Hawthorne events I've been to. I saw some really great driving, and I was so proud to see how well our Subaru drivers are driving these days, (and starting to get get annoyed that I can't catch them! :P:lol: )

Call out to Silvio, Rachel thinks it was you who push started her after her spin at the triangle, and she thanks you greatly! (Rach ran in F125 this weekend, her first time in a shifter kart, and she says it was one of the funnest things she's ever done. I think I've lost my co-driver.)

Kevin M 2009-05-24 07:10 PM

Count Nina and I in on the 2009 Hawthorne Bandwagon. We had a great time. Despite coning away the two best runs I've ever had, I am still pretty darn happy. The car held together (though the oil burning has gotten worse) and more importantly, I have a car built to how I want to drive, instead of driving to what I've cobbled together for the season like I used to do. Now to get the rebuild done for GSR and start piling on the seat time!

van 2009-05-24 07:38 PM

Yeah, the event was so fast and soo fun and my car didn't break*! I had to catch my breathe after a couple of the runs today. I'm loving the coilovers(thanks Scott) and brakes(thanks Scott) and can't wait for GSR. Aside from me the suby crew kicked butt.

*Lie, I have no brake lights now.

Dean 2009-05-25 06:47 AM

Sounds like a blast. 4th gear in the STI sounds like they didn't have to get the course approved by National.

While I am sure it was fun and "flowed", that sounds a bit fast for an autocross. Glad everyone made it home in one piece. (They did, right?)

That's what I asked as well, but we had our Divisional Chief of safety on hand, just like in years prior. I don't think we were getting over 70...but overall, the course had a LOT of 45-55 MPH sections so it felt super fast.

cody 2009-05-25 08:59 AM

+1 for an awesome weekend! Dale Shoemaker in his Camaro was my only competition in ESP and boy was he competitive this year. Last year Nick and I had no problem taking him and an ESP Mustang but he's got his suspension sorted (softer springs actually) and I couldn't beat him either day. I think he got me by .6xx seconds on Saturday and something like 1.7xx on Sunday (would have only been .9 if I didn't cone away an 85.9xx my last run). I think I did pretty well actually, can't wait to see pax results when they're posted. :) I'm pretty sure that I got 10 ESP points each day too with the T modifier. He was running 315 wide Hoosiers and I was on my 17/45/225 RE01R's, same as I was on last year.

Big thanks to everyone for a smooth and safe event.

tysonK 2009-06-11 06:28 AM

This is going on the same weekend of autocross? nice.

moose 2009-06-11 08:11 AM

That is going to be fantastic.......not.

sperry 2009-06-11 08:42 AM

Oh dear lord.

Something tells me on Sunday, we're going to see lots of course workers running to pick up stuff like bumpers, scoops, and underbody-neon. :unamused:

Lol, it says "calling out all 'JDM' rides."

I have a feeling we are going to get a lot of negative attention from this.

wrxkidid 2009-06-11 09:48 AM

Quite possible.

WRX06TR 2009-06-11 09:52 AM

Ug that sucks, what does that say about a drift demo? Where is our course going to be setup anyway?

Edit- nevermind I just read the thread about this event...Maybe all the ricers will be in the front and we can quietly be AutoXing and going unnoticed...lol

sperry 2009-06-11 12:55 PM

The real problem is that if a bunch of ricers that come to the car show on Saturday figure out they can run with us on Sunday, we're going to have a nightmare at tech and registration on Sunday morning, plus a bunch of n00bs on course that may be thinking they're driving in a drift exhibition, not an autocross competition.

And that's not to mention SCCA's take on "spectators"... since spectators aren't allowed, technically we're supposed to be waivering and wrist-banding pretty much everyone that's at the car show that can watch our event.

wrxkidid 2009-06-11 02:08 PM

maybe i can talk one of them into letting me codrive their ricerocket
