Help with a New Car.

So, the time has come to purchase a second vehicle, and I wanted everyones opinions.

Here are the couple of vehicles I'm considering:
1.) 93-95 Mazda RX-7
2.) 95-98 BMW M3
3.) Bugeye WRX

I'd like to stay under 20 thousand, and I'm open to suggestions.
Let me know what you think.

Dean 2006-01-19 03:24 PM

BMW, or WRX is the only choice IMHO. Probably get into a bugeye for $10-12K, and BMW higher in your range I would bet.

If you have time to work on it, pick up that salvage WRX in Tahoe, and parts from Rancho Cordova... Probably put that together for under $7K

sp00ln 2006-01-19 03:30 PM

RX7.... cuz they're pimp.

JonnydaJibba 2006-01-19 03:34 PM

Rx-7 fer sheezy. You already had a bugeye, why get another one? They aren't cool enough to purchase twice. And come on you remember what happend with the last one... bad omen or something to buy another one. Get an FD biatch!

Bugeyes are still in the $13k+ range for an '02 WRX, more if you buy from a dealer.

And unless Bob can do the repair work for super cheap (bordering on free), it'll cost more to rebuild that car than to buy a non-salvage car, and when the work's done, it'd still be a salvage titled car. Besides, that car's a two time totalled car... who knows what condition it'll be in once it's torn apart.

No such thing as an '02 WRX with a moonroof.

Dean 2006-01-19 03:37 PM

Aftermarket moonroofs are available...

(also I started my post when you stated they only cost $10k)

OK, we keep typing over each other... can't hurt to call...

Dean 2006-01-19 03:45 PM

Wagon in Truckee for $10.6K Ha! From Autotrader ...

This appears to be a black WRX with upgrades for $11.5K in Sac.

I added a 11.5K one, you want to pick that one apart? maybe you don't like the front lip... :P

AtomicLabMonkey 2006-01-19 03:53 PM

Of the 3 listed, definitely pick up the M. Those are solid all around cars. If you want something less refined but with 100 more bhp, C5 Corvettes can be had for under $20k now.

Dean 2006-01-19 04:09 PM

eBay: 2.2l WRX wagon with many upgrades SD, CA $12kBIN
Many others, but most to far away.

sybir 2006-01-19 04:13 PM

OMG stay away from that car. It's an OBS, with a sketchy 2.2 Legacy motor. I knew the guy, it's hacked together.

I wouldn't buy that car for $12, let alone $12,000.

Bob Danger 2006-01-19 04:19 PM

The more I think about it the more I'm leaning away from the RX-7, The BMWs can be had for 15 to 17, its RWD which is a plus, but I asume its garbage in the snow, but the my insurance is cheaper on the BMW compared to the WRX, its incredibly expensive to modify however.

MattR 2006-01-19 04:27 PM

Get a Kia, never Mod it and live happily ever after...

(cheapest way out) :p

AtomicLabMonkey 2006-01-19 04:31 PM

Since this is a 2nd car, I'm assuming it doesn't have to do well in the winter. With your choices so far I'm also assuming you're after a fast car.

My advice is to buy a car that's fast to begin with, so you don't have to modify it. Unless sinking your bank account, blood, sweat & tears into a moderately fast car to make it moderately faster is fun for you.

I know who's selling that car. That's Brent Sanada. :) (Marquels Ex./went to Galena with MattR)
I didn't know he still had that car. Whoa!

Are you getting rid of the RS? Maybe Bobby would buy that, that's a sweet car.

sti deede 2006-01-19 04:55 PM

Couldn't help it.... had to call him. Brent says the car is sold. And I checked the moonroof is a typo.
