I went to Japan because an exchange student invited me to her home for a month during winter break. Besides, I've always wanted to go and I'm learning Japanese (>.<)/

Dude, I know zero Japanese and even I can tell it says:

"Yes, she is a hot exchange student. In September when I visited we got it on in Hiroshima. Also, those Styx guys totally don't know anything about speaking Japanese."

sp00ln 2004-08-04 03:11 PM

Lol, it's cool. I bet it's broken Japanese. I havn't taken a class yet, but I've been talking to Japanese people during class for about a year. I've picked up on a few things ;) This year will be my first year actually sitting down in a classroom and studying Japanese. Where did you learn Japanese? Nihonjin desuka?

My mom is Japanese, but I didn't learn from anyone in my family. Took 2.5 years of it back in college.

4 years ago, maybe, but since I have barely spoken it in that time, I'm very rusty. I have a few friends who teach english in Japan, and I can't talk to them (and one of them didn't even take Japanese here in the states, he's picking it all up).

sp00ln 2004-08-04 03:37 PM

How long has he been there for? Also, does he know how much engrish tutors make over there? 8) I want some side cash.

Lets see, I have one friend that been over there for about 4 months. He's part of the Nova program, which you can't do on the side.

Another friend went over in Feb of last year, stayed till December, and is going back mid-September for indefinite. He was teaching middle school english and tutoring on the side and was making some good cash, but I don't know how much in dollars (he himself said he didn't know, because he never too the time to convert Yen to Dollars). Aparently there are plenty of opportunities for white guys to tutor Japanese housewives.

sp00ln 2004-08-04 05:02 PM

Yeah, I just want to tutor, not really teach. Maybe for an hour or two a day or every-other day. Im just a college student and I bet some people charge a shit load in Japan to tutor english, I'll just offer half-price.

Nick Koan 2004-08-04 06:36 PM

cool, I'll ask my friend next time I talk to him. I'll let you know, or bump the thread or something.

tysonK 2004-08-04 06:41 PM

nice car.

dknv 2004-08-06 02:24 PM

Yea, what he said.

While you're continuing your studies, keep throwing nihongo at us, it'll be good practice.
And, seriously, you're going back over?

sp00ln 2004-08-06 03:28 PM

Nihongo o hanasemasuka?

I'll be in Japan for a year.

dknv 2004-08-07 06:40 PM

according to my Mom,
'Honto, anata wa sensei dekkei masu, ne?'

Watashi wa Nissei, desu, demo ne, nihongo wa choto, scoshi wakaremasu desu.

sp00ln 2004-08-08 12:51 AM

I cant understand that.

Am I a teacher?

And you understand a little Japanese?

Translate please :)

dknv 2004-08-08 07:20 AM

dekkei masu is something like, go, or in this context, go for it. She suggests you should go for being a teacher (tutor).

Right, I understand a little.

sp00ln 2004-08-08 09:43 AM

Is your mom Japanese?

dknv 2004-08-08 09:11 PM

Hai, so desu.
