So I decided....

Well...was more forced to decide. I went and test drove a few different cars...including the legacy GT, but I could not accept any of the offers they presented. Basically, I would be digging myself a hole right now due to the miles on my car. Last thing I want is to trade in at a loss.

So I will be holding the car for at least another year...(maybe when the STi legacy is out  ).

SO.....I decided that its time to mod a little since I am almost warrenty free.

I purchased:

MRT Flex Uppipe
Bosal Cat-Back
Helix Downpipe
Gasket Kit
Grounding Kit
Intercooler Hose Kit
Perrin Boost Controller
Rota Battles 18x7.5 in Bronze
STi JDM Radiator Cap.
Seatbelt harnesses

I actually received my wheels, downpipe, gaskets, grounding kit, seatbelt pads, and intercooler kit today. Everything else should be here tomorrow.

So now I have 2 things.

1. What tires should I look for? What sizes? I haven't had 18" wheels before. I would prefer no rubbing :)

2. Subydude is the shit. He gets things to me way to quick. Thanks again.

ArthurS 2004-08-23 08:06 PM

Plus I was able to finally hook up those Prodrive FF1000 foglights, and damn they are bright.

Nick Koan 2004-08-23 08:09 PM

Watch out with the radiator cap. Kevin and Scott are saying that it can cause radiator leaks because it raises the water pressure higher then some portions of the cooling system can handle.

Other then that, congrats on keeping your car :D
And going all out on the mod list :D

Hehe... moving from one hole to another.

Nick Koan 2004-08-23 08:50 PM

So, when are you going to install all of this stuff?

tysonK 2004-08-23 08:51 PM

Art.

what happened to the Formels?

dknv 2004-08-23 09:17 PM

Seatbelt harnesses, so, you're going to come back to the dark side & race??

Congrats!

Awesome. I got your aim, but I was AFK :P If you get stuck or need help with anything, give me a call.

ArthurS 2004-08-23 10:21 PM

It will all be installed by meet time. Revolution motorsports forgot to give me my lugnuts...so kinda held up on them also. Hopefully, all done by the meet. I may need help with the spark plugs, but the rest will be okay.

Yes, I am coming back to racing Debbie. I also am ordering a set of Rota Downshifts in black with a polished lip for track and autocross. With Azenies.

But...What tires for street use on the 18" rims? What size should it be with stock height on a wagon?

ArthurS 2004-08-23 10:24 PM

I loved the formels...and still may go with them for track, but I wanted 18's for road use so I could be blingin

just checkin, cause I liked them also, I would sport them as my winter wheels, then I could sell my stockers.

Yeah, if you want. I really don't know what I'm doing, but if you need someone else to stand around and go "yup", "um hum" and "sweet" I can definitely help out :D

Seriously, though, if you need any help, I ain't got anything better to do so let me know.

ArthurS 2004-08-23 10:38 PM

Sweet. I have a heavy list to finish if I wanna make track day. I want to finish the 30k which includes:

Spark Plugs
Fule Filter
PCV Valve

Then it would be sick if I got the:

Uppipe
Downpipe
Catback
Intercooler Hoses
Grounding Kit

done also.

BTW - I researched quite a bit about the radiator cap. I had the STi on before, and never had a issue. I did hear about people's misfortune while having them on, but from what most people say, they can't prove it was the cap either.

Like many others, I run the Falken Azenis ST 115 on my 18's. I have never liked a touring/ street tire as much as this one. Not only is it quiet, it looks good, performs well, and is cheap. I run them, as do Scott, Matt (scott's roomate), Khail, among others. Best street tire anywhere...

ArthurS 2004-08-23 10:45 PM

Nice....now since tirerack doesn't seem to have them...where do you guys get them?

AND what size do run?

Just got the uppipe and lugnuts today.

Still waiting on the exhaust hangers and catback. Apparently subydude drop ships them from somewhere else...so they are taking there time getting here.

I have an extra set of kartboy exhaust hangers I could bring to the tech inspection on Saturday!

sybir 2004-08-25 07:40 PM

So do I, you can probably pick your color, too, as I have red, and don't care what color I end up with ;)

If there ends up being an extra set of hangers, and they are unwanted/unneeded I'll buy them for a reasonable cost. I need a set to hopefully keep my exhaust a little bit stiffer and away from my front cross member.

sybir 2004-08-25 08:11 PM

I'll need a set for my car, but I don't mind letting someone borrow/swap if they've got them in the mail and need them now.

I'll bring em on Saturday. I think I have three red, so maybe one shy. I'll check tomorrow.

doubleurx 2004-08-25 08:22 PM

Dean I can't remember if I mentioned the hangers to you or one of the Mikes. I suppose I should just offer those to whoever that was first. I just checked what was in my garage and it turns out I only put three on when I changed mine, So I have 5 hangers. The center hanger seemed fine. In fact, the two outer ones made the exhaust as stiff as adding three hangers.

At any rate I'll bring them on Saturday.

Dean 2004-08-25 09:22 PM

Cool... I'm guessing I primarily need them up in front. My downpipe or whatever rubs, especially on starting against the front cross member.

Dean on my car there are only 4 hangers total. One in the middle and three around the muffler. I actually found the one in the middle was fine so I left it alone. It also looked like a bear to get off, so be prepared.

I've had them all off multiple times... Silicone spray, and big flat blade screwdrivers is all you need.

STIwish 2004-08-29 03:53 PM

ooo... first post in a long while.. anyways, Art, that is hella cool yo!! glad you decided to keep her... cant wait to see some pics and possibly see her in person!
