Nick's performace parts

Just checking if anyone is interested to help me decide on whether I get an STI. I am turning my car back to stock (sad) and will have some parts to sell if anyone is interested:

ECU swap: $250 - Mine has the ECUTEK license. All you need to pay is Nate's tuning time (already OK'd by Nate)
STI intercooler: $450 - I bought this brand new for $599 and have only used it for the summer.
STI blue hood scoop with mesh and splitter - $220 for both.- these were only used for the summer and are in perfect condition.
Cusco Rear Sway Bar and Helix endlinks - $120 for both.
Vishnu Signature SeriesTurbo Back exhaust, vf34, sti injectors - (Nate may have a buyer for these so I'll keep you updated) In the meantime, think of an offer in case that falls through

For now Nate has dibs on my Stoptech's and beloved leather seats.

There is probably more but I can't think of anything.

sperry 2004-09-24 08:54 AM

I'm calling dibs on the IC for Ryan. I know he's looking for one, as per his post about trading for one a while back.

MikeK 2004-09-24 09:15 AM

Does this mean you are getting Jason's STi? Or an 05?

If it definately happens, it will be an '05. It would be too much of a pain to get Jason's car smogged in CA. Also I can get an '05 for only $1100 more.

doubleurx 2004-09-24 09:30 AM

Oh yeah, I also have a kartboy short shifter and a blue momo air leather knob.

I will also have potentially a set of Prodrive OZ P1's for sale. I have a set of 5 (one brand new in the box) - $500. With M2 snow tires used one season - $700.

JC 2004-09-24 09:32 AM

Damn those P1s are tempting. 17s or 18s? Dammit no more money on the car. :x Too bad that Kartboy doesn't fit my car.

Assume P1s fit over StopTechs... What color/size?

Dibs...

Didn't you say they wanted 28500 for jason's car? So you have found a new 05 STi for $29600? That is an awesome price, where is this at?

Also interested in Rear Sway Bar.

But not the links.

I'm also tempted by the ECU, could I even run that in my stock car? This would be saving me like $400 right?

I believe you would have to have a stock map flashed onto it, or get a custom tune, or install the same mods that nick had. I wouldn't want to run a VF34 map on a stock car, especially since he had different size injectors.

Tyson, let me see what Nate could do in terms of just flashing it with a stock tune for now. Shouldn't be too hard to do with Nick's car in the shop anyways, if you're interested.
Then, whenever you're ready, you can throw it on the dyno and get it tweaked for your setup.

I talked to Jason Thursday about his car and he told me he still has the stock down pipe. So if you really like the 04 White I'm sure we could get the down pipe to you for smog :D

ryan4601 2004-09-26 03:40 AM

i am interested in the sti intercooler....a question....is it a version 8?(us spec) or if im super lucky its a version 7(jdm). anyway. i really dont need 3 intercoolers. so unless someone is going to buy at least one of the other ones i dont think i can foot for it at this point.....but who knows.

ryan

doubleurx 2004-09-26 07:59 AM

Sorry for the late reply. I was in Sac all day yesterday. I did buy a blue 05 STI. I got it for $29,651. It came with the security system, auto dim mirrors and the standard stereo. My plan is to strip my car with Nate next Sunday which is when I will get my car. They had 4 sti's at this price and all of them sold while I was there........Nuts!

I'll try to answer the questions here in reverse order:

1. Ryan: I believe it is a US Spec. I got if from Rennick. It does seem wider than the air splitter though. I bought it brand new and used it for maybe 1500 miles.
2. Tyson, As long as I can get a stock bar, I'll happily sell you the sway bar alone at a great price. It is the Cusco 22-24 bar. Also the ECU (everyone is correct) it would need to be reflashed to stock which Nate will do on Sunday. I would nee to swap with your ecu. Yes it would save you $400. The hard part is you would be without an ecu for a couple of days.
3. Dean: Yes they fit over the stoptechs. They are 17x7's w/ 225/45/17 M2's. The color of the wheels is silver. Again this also includes a fifth wheel still in the box. Franz PM'd before I checked this email, so dibs goes to either one of you. Sorry about that.

Unless someone can tell me otherwise, I sadly must also sell my 17x8 bronze rota torques with falken azenis st-115's (bought in May this year). I was planning on these as a second set for the new sti, but it turns out that for '05 they changed the wheels to a 17x8 width with a different bolt pattern. I found this out while shootin' the shit with the salesman after we closed the deal (not that I would have passed on this deal).

I also remembered that I have a Whiteline anti-lift kit - $110. Also installed this summer.

I am around most of the day today at my house if any of you want to call

530.587.6042

Thanks for all the interest, Hopefully I can reasonably close the gap further.

doubleurx 2004-09-26 08:22 AM

Does anyone still have their stock 16 " wheels with decent tread? I would be willing to credit something towards the purchase of any parts.

Dean 2004-09-26 08:26 AM

Debbie has stockers with worn out Hoosiers, but you could pick up some used tires at Ray's or Hooten for about $20 each.

doubleurx 2004-09-26 08:36 AM

Art sorry I missed your question. Yes the helix end links are full pillow ball and reatail for $99.

I have a stock 20mm bar lying around that you can use to get Tyson the Cusco bar, and then he can give me his stocker when he puts it on.

I also have an '02 ecu you guys can use temporarily (non-reflashed) but I'm not sure if either of you can actually put it in the car, I'll have to check.

tysonK 2004-09-26 02:03 PM

Blue 05 for 29 nice.

Looks like I'll be spending even more on my car. Can't let these nice used parts go to somone outside the club.

Is this statement based upon our assumed technical ability? I can only speak for me you are correct.

Thanks, Kevin that is a great offer. Tyson?

Kevin I could pick it up at next weeks's swap and deliver my relashed unit the following week to Tyson. Maybe Kevin can make the swap at that meet.

tysonK 2004-09-26 04:11 PM

So:

It's look like we might need to sort out a schedule and some dates?

As of now your ECU is in your car with custom reflash. What year was your car Nick?

Thursday the 30th: Maybe you trade Kevin for his 02 ECU(my car is 03) to put in your car?

Saturday the 2nd: I will be going down to the Subaru and Alphas Meet BBQ

Sunday the 3rd: nothing really

Monday the 4th: Track day at Thunderhill

How soon does all this need to get done. It could be easier to do it after the track is over with and all that.

I purchased the package from Subydude for 1200. Subydude offers the wheels alone right now for 700.

How does $850 sound for both wheels and tires.

I assume Kevin was being the generous fellow to loan the ecu for the trade. If this is the case, I could pick up the ecu from Kevin (assuming there are no issues with an 02 swap in an 03). I would take that ecu with me the following weekend to Nate. He would place that ecu in my car on Sunday. He would reflash my ecu to stock. You go to your track day as planned. The following Thursday, I show up in my shiny new STI with my Ecu, hand it to you and kevin swaps it with your ecu.

If this sounds OK let's do it. And thanks again Kevin. At the very least Kevin gets Dinner and a beer Thursday.

tysonK 2004-09-26 04:25 PM

I'll wait for Kevin to comment.

doubleurx 2004-09-26 04:28 PM

I must have had a few too many beers. Excuse the last post, somehow my response did not get places.

At any rate, I assume Kevin was offering to provide his ECU as the temp replacement. If so, Thanks Kevin that is very generous. Then it would work like this:

Thursday, I pick up Kevin's ECU. I bring it to Nate on Sunday. He puts the ecu in my car (hopefully no issues with an 02 in an 03). Then he reflashes my ecu to stock. I come to the next Thursday meet with my ecu and hand it to Kevin. Kevin installs it in place of Tyson's ecu, and takes Tyson's stock ECU and Tyson hands me $250. Then we buy Kevin Dinner and Beer.

Sounds OK?

Yah I pretty much read it like that.

So I guess it depends if Kevin is willing to do that and if the 02 and 03 are interchangeable.

doubleurx 2004-09-26 07:19 PM

You are correct Tyson. I'll check with Nate tomorrow whether there is any difference between the 02 and 03. I believe they are compatable and it was the 04 that had a change.

FYI: Franz just picked up the P1's. Sorry Dean, you both expressed interest at exactly the same time. If there is anyting else your interested in just let me know.

Dean 2004-09-26 07:24 PM

No Problem... I wasn't real excited about the 7" width anyway.

I also have an 02 WRX Stock ECU lying around if someone needs to borrow it.

Kevin M 2004-09-26 11:09 PM

I can put the 02 ecu I have into the car, and if the CEL comes up I'll DeltaDash it to make sure it's not important, and you can bring it back after you and Tyson do the reflash/stock flash thing. It's really no trouble for me, it's just sitting in my garage. 8)

Why don't you put Kevin's ECU in Tyson's car. Then put Tyson's in your car. Then yours in Tyson's car. That way everyone has the right year ECU? An ECU swap only takes a couple minutes IIRC.

Wait, I think if we try harder, I can make it more complicated. Actually, I would need to pick up the stock ECU on Thurday as I won't have my car. I would have Nate install the ecu into my car and reflash my ecu. I will bring my ecu back on Sunday.

The reason is, I definately want my car to be driving when I turn it into the dealership, so it is making one last run to Nate's and then straight to the dealer. Hopefully this works for either Dean or Kevin. And again, thanks to both of you for the offer. Kevin, the same would go for the sway bar.

Dean 2004-09-27 08:34 AM

My ECU is sitting on the living room floor, an available anytime... I can get the model/Serial tonight if anyone wants it.

Tyson - Are you going to grab his sway and endlinks?

doubleurx 2004-09-27 11:36 AM

OK, one more thing to add to the list. It turns out there were more changes to the STI than I first thought. My coilovers will not fit on the 05 STI.

They are APEXI Type V-N1 coilovers - 23 way dampening adjustment and stiff as hell. They have full pillowball top mounts with front camber adjustment.

Retail on these things are $2495, I got them on sale from Gruppe S for $1695 They were installed last November.

Will Sell for $1,100.

MattR 2004-09-27 12:19 PM

Dean are you sure that's an 02 ECU? I was under the impression that all 02s were -AF4**. Mine is AF421 (first run of 02s) and it's probably better to use mine, because I need to use one of my 3 DD licenses on it to verify that the CEL it will throw in Tyson/Nick's car isn't important while it's in transit. I have 2 licenses left, one will be for my WRX swap ECU and one for the next Subaru I buy, so I can't use it on yours.
