WooHoo! F the A's !!!

Baseball fans:

Angels are now tied with the A's for the AL West Lead! A's are going nowhere fast.

Tonight: Angels v Texas

Then, Angels v. A's, 3 game series to finish the season!!!! It's gonna be a mini-playoff, loser goes to palying golf, winner to the playoffs...

I smell Dodgers v Angels in the World Series 8)

Nick Koan 2004-09-29 09:41 AM

No way. Giants can still knock LA off the Division lead (and if we are lucky, Chicago or Houston can steal the wildcard from the Dodgers).

MattR 2004-09-29 09:46 AM

Not.....gonna....happen..... 8)

Nick Koan 2004-09-29 09:51 AM

:D

I'm cool with the Angels making it, but the Dodgers. They don't deserve shit. ;)

JC 2004-09-29 09:56 AM

You know what sucks? Baseball. I think I still have a ball from "ball day" with the As.

Here's what's gonna happen:

NL:

LA is gonna crack under the pressure and not only lose the NL-West to the Giants, they'll lose the wild card to the Cubs. Unfortunately, St. Louis will sweep the Giants and the Cubs will beat Atlanta 3-2 in the NLDS. Then the Cubs will feel the curse and lose to St. Louis in the NLCS 4-2, keeping them out of the Series yet again. :(

AL:

A's take 2 out of 3 in the season finale against Anaheim to make it into the playoffs. A's *finally* beat the Yanks, sweeping them no less, in the ALDS, and Boston beats Minnesota 3-1. A's and Boston in the ALCS, Boston taking the series 4-2 and going up against St. Louis for the World Series.

World Series:

Boston comes out hot and wins game 1. St. Louis fights back taking games 2 and 3. Boston wins one more, putting the series to 2-2, but St. Louis wins games 5 and 6, taking the Series.

Of course, I'd like to see the Giants or A's go to the WS, or even better, Cubs vs. Red Sox... but I'll just be happy to see Oakland finally get their game 5 monkey off their back.

Dean 2004-09-29 04:01 PM

Is it just me, or has Scott spent a bit to much time thinking about this?

You must have a hell of a FutureVisionTM TV set to make predictions that accurate.

MattR 2004-09-29 04:09 PM

If Scott's right I will be impressed...but this is my " Angels rule...A's Suck " thread, so get the hell out SCott... :x

ScottyS 2004-09-29 04:20 PM

Dude, that FutureVision TV channel puts waaaayy too much stock in the Giants' ability not to choke their way out of the playoffs......the team I hate to love.

Go JT go JT go JT!

No no, Scott's right... the Giants choke out of the postseason, not out of making it there. Well, not since we cut Solomon Torres anyway...

You can kill his dead body, after I kill him 1st. Reno A's fans get priority to beat on Reno based A's haters. :P

MattR 2004-09-30 01:48 PM

I'll kill all 3 of you skinny fools...I'll street race you to death....

It's not my fault the Oakland Pathetics choke on a D every year..

Dean 2004-09-30 01:50 PM

I like the A's, but the last time I think they were contenders was when Billy Martin was coaching...

Except for '88 when they went to the series and '89 when they won it all. I'm pretty sure those were post-BM days. :P

The A's have been a surprisingly good team over the years. Especially considering their small budget and reliance on young players. They really play "team" baseball... as opposed to the super-star ball that teams like the Yanks play.

In fact that's the same reason I'm a closet Angel's fan... those boys go far with very little to work with!

I'm just really tired of seeing the A's get eliminated in an ALDS game 5... 3 years straight so far... "Oakland Pathethics" indeed! :x

Is that the year Gibson came off the bench, with a hurt leg, and hit it out to kick the A's asses?

They weren't actually any good in '88 and '89, the rest of the League just sucked worse than they did those years, and they just plain got lucky in '89.

I actually kinda like the A's, but it is way to much fun to give hard core fans grief than admit it...

Then they burned their shit-hole town to the ground in "celebration". Oh wait, that was just after every Laker's championship, and when racial unrest causes all the boiling silicone from the plastic people in LA to go to their heads and riot.

Fuck LA. Worst place evAr. Whoever let the Raiders back into Oakland after they were tainted by la-la land should be shot.

Quit stepping on my childhood!! :P  The late 80's were fantastic!

http://www.sportsposterwarehouse.com...ers88cos-1.jpg

How could it possibly get better than that!?!

(Note the lack of concrete in center-field... that was back when you could see the Oakland hills from the staduim instead of a giant wall of football seats that the Raider's can't even sell out.)

It all comes down to two 3 game series to decide the West divisions.....and NL wild card

I HATE THE ANGELS AND THAT GHEY RALLY MONKEY!

The A's will win the AL west, Giants will take the wild card

That is all

Giants beat the Dodgers! Cubs are out of it now pretty much being 2 back with 2 to play......down to us and the Astros! I'm going to have to be glued to a radio or TV at Alfa's tomorrow

Kevin M 2004-10-01 09:50 PM

What's with benchwarming middle infielders hitting grandslams in what is basically a playoff game? :monkey:, and I don't mean the rally version.
