Who needs fender rolling?
I know I discussed it with Scott, and a couple other people had expressed interest; how many people are interested in getting it done, so I can arrange an on-site visit/group buy on doing it next time I come up to Reno?
I threw out some numbers in the other thread, but for now, let's just see who's interested and I'll work something out with Nate. Also, lemme know if you're looking for all 4 corners or just the rears. |
me :) I havent seen what your charging or what all this does under the fenders but Im interested (after I see how you do Scott's  )
|
I will definately need a little more clearance in the rears... hell, if you can give me enough clearance to run 245's then I'm in for that as well.
So I'm in, for all 4, as wide as you can go w/o damaging the paint. I want some 245/40/17 track tires to fit for next season. :D |
I'm with Scott... I don't want fender rolling quite so much as I want fender stretching. I'm definitely in.
|
Me too...Rears only/
|
Will this let me slam my car even further to the ground!?
oh yeah! |
Is there a guarentee that he won't fuck up my paint? If there is I'll do my rears.

But seriously, you won't have any problems on the outside of the fender; you may want to hit the inside with a coat of clear just to seal up any cracks that develop. I rolled mine with a bat first, so they're a bit torn up on the inside, but on a newer car with the right tool, and a heat gun, we should be able to keep any paint damage to a minimum. |

The risk to paint is primarily if you do more than just take the inner lip and fold it up tighter to the inside of the panel.
Making the wheel wells actually larger/deeper is wher ethe risk is. Also, be aware that soem autocross classes allow the former but not the later... Check the rule book if you care aout such things. |

Okie, after talking to Nate, and discussing liability and other issues with my fat ass representing the shop legally, I think we're going to "rent" it to SECCS for a weekend when I come up, do like $100 flat for the weekend, then everyone who gets it done chips in. So if we have 5-6 people (reasonable enough) it'll be <20, and we can do whatever you want; I'll still be there to help/do it, it just won't be under the auspices of the shop.
If you don't want to do it yourself, Nate will offer it at the shop, with the tool, and he charges $100ish per car, so this is really a steal. The tool works really, really well. I know Scott will bring it up at the meet, but let me know if you guys think that'll work, and I'll make it happen in the next few weeks. |
I am in. I will def need my fenders rolled. Will Nate quote $100-ish for fender rolling and fender pulling?
|
So wait I have to do it myself? Or if you do it and mess up I can only kick your ass not yours and nate's.

Basically, we'll keep it mild, it's pretty easy. Pulling fenders is when you start getting into paint problems :D Shawn, Nate will be happy to do that for you. |
With all that sybir mentioned in mind, I'm just going to do the rears. I don't need issues w/ the front fender liners fitting because we jacked up the lip too much.
But once the new Azenis Sports come out, if they come out in a 245/35/17, then I'll re-evaluate my fender situation. |
Sign me up. :D I'll help drop the price a little and who knows I might need them in the near future.
|
I'm in as long as all I have to do is sit back and watch.
|
You have to buy milkshakes, then ;)
Get vanilla, then we can use the shake to touch up your fenders afterwards....... |

But seriously, we can do a minor roll, no worries about paint, should be fine. |
Good deal, I just want to cram 225s under there so I don't need much.
|
are we going to make a list?
<-------- In!!! 8) |
Do you think this thing will work on the Karman Ghia? I could use more room in the rear.

Bringing this back to the top. As long as the battle wagon is back running, I'm planing on coming up Friday night with a fender tool.
Sounds like Matt's may be a good spot to do it Saturday, unless there;s any other suggestions....... I'll be up all weekend, so if you can't make it Saturday morning or something, shouldn't be a problem. Any ideas/tips/queries/suggestions, etc? Matt or Scott, is it cool if I crash at somebody's place? |
You're welcome to stay with us as always...And yes, Saturday is fine. Hope that works.
|
Sweet, thanks.
If anyone has alternative suggestions, let me know, I know it's kinda short notice, but we should be able to find some time in that 48 hours to do most people, and it's not like I can't come up again anyways ;) |
Aaron, you can crash at my place as well. We can also do the rolling at my place as well if Matt's is covered in snow or something. :P
BTW: How's the wagon coming? |
Wagon has made zero progress since Thursday due to lack of parts. Outside our control, but it still sucks :|
Hopefully should be up and runing in the next few days, though. I scored an Optima blue-top off Scott's old car, the new springs are on the GC coils so I can keep it off the bumpstops while running it loaded, and the compression's been bumped, so I'll be happy to have it back :D |

Umm, most of the stuff came in Friday afternoon, but we had to work on Scott's car, and swapping all the stuff form Nick's car to Nate's.
That went on till almost midnight, and then they got slammed with stuff Saturday and coudn't touch it. Joe may work on it today to button up the motor, but it won't be getting dropped in until tomorrow at the earliest, and mebbe Wednesday if Nate puts the motor back together tomorrow. We were waiting on the heads, since the original heads we were going to use were not EJ25 heads as suspected, but EJ20s, and while it would have dropped compression to turbo-friendly levels, the bottom end would still be weak, and I have not the resources to do a turbo kit as well (plus I have to smog in a few months). It's got all new accessories; new oil pump, new water pump, belts, all the hoses, new valves, all seals, everything, so it just took a while to get ahold of a couple things. Subaru didn't have replacements for a couple hoses, and told Joe to cut up a heater hose, lol. So it's coming, and prognosis is could; shjould know more this afternoon. Then I'll have Nate fab the exhaust in early November, get it on the dyno, and see what it does after the motor's broken in a bit. |

I really appreciate it, but my heads were already getting worked at the time, and it would take a lot of extra fidgeting to make the SOHC setup work correctly on my car. We were just waiting on dinky parts, we had the heads back early last week.
It's ok, we totally rebuilt them, and shaved them down for high compression ;) |
Update: teh wagon should be up and running tomorrow afternoon.
Anybody needs anything from the shop let me know. BTW, anyone heard from Brandon? I need to grab those lights again if he's not purchasing them..... |
They're sitting in my garage...I think he's MIA..so I'd suggest you take them back with you.
