RENO MEET 12/29

Yeah it's fast, but it'll get JC in with us, Khail is off, and dknv now knows where Tamarack is located. Anyone game?

ArthurS 2002-12-26 04:02 PM

Im in......11 am?

BOO 2002-12-26 05:56 PM

Would it be ok again to tag along once more :?: Are there any plans as of yet in regards to where you guys are taking off to from there ?
Ps: Thanks also for letting me post on here :)

imprezton 2002-12-26 07:12 PM

11 AM, you would be most welcome, Boo, and where we go is dependant on road conditions the day of :)

ArthurS 2002-12-26 08:18 PM

Heard its going to be pretty snowy, maybe some good pics somewhere or parking lot action......that would be cool if you came along BOO, so you can decide to buy yourself a WRX for New Years.

imprezton 2002-12-26 10:02 PM

Hmmmmm......Hunsberger Elementary is right down the road from Walmart, maybe 3 miles ;)

ArthurS 2002-12-27 10:38 AM

I would like to get some action shots in the snow. I have been dying to do some video editing lately. Just need footage.

khail19 2002-12-27 01:54 PM

I should be able to make it too. See you guys at 11am or thereabouts.

Khail

sperry 2002-12-27 04:12 PM

Missed it again

Hi all -
I was off the computer for a week, so I missed the 12/29 meet date. The pictures were cool, though.

What is everyone doing on 1/1? My mom had a superstition, that for whatever you're doing on the first day of the year, you'll be doing alot of that the entire year. So, I'd rather not sit in the house & watch tv, I'd rather get out & drive! Or go skiing, but it'll probably be a zoo if the weather is decent.

Hehe, I just got images of hippos, giraffes and zebras on skis.

sperry 2002-12-30 10:24 AM

Hey Khail, remember that ABS problem I had...

Well, it turns out... that little side fuse panel below and to the right of the panel in the dash... well, 2 of the slots are for spares, and the other two are for the ABS and somthing else... that fuse I yanked to replace the dash lighting one I blew was for the ABS.

So, there was nothing bad with the ABS... there's just 2 fuses for it, and I yanked one of them.

The crazy thing... at low speeds on snow and ice, the ABS totally sucks compared to having it off. Subaru needs to install speed sensative ABS, basically turn it off or scale it down at lower speeds. In snow and gravel, the car will slide to a stop a lot faster than it does under ABS braking!

I wonder how hard it'd be to retro-fit a Ford ABS system into a Subaru...

I know that day I may be a little hung-over, but I am down to do something. Just shoot some ideas.

imprezton 2002-12-30 05:57 PM

I'll be cooking up New Year's Dinner, seeing as my wife and I both have to work tomorrow night :p

Maybe if we do something early, I can make it out. I can show you all my "rear-ended by a vintage T-Bird" mod.

ArthurS 2002-12-30 07:05 PM

you were rear-ended?

damage?

imprezton 2002-12-30 07:15 PM

just split the bumper skin

ArthurS 2002-12-30 08:25 PM

that sucks. is the guy going to pay for it?

imprezton 2002-12-30 08:30 PM

of course. But I'm gonna hold out till the end of spring. Maybe I can save some other moron's insurance company a few bucks between now and then.

Man I did everthing right. Going by scott motors, readying to turn right on Holcomb, this kid was parked by scott and started to pull out (move forward) right next to me. So I hit the brakes cuase two cars moving in one lane is not good. little did I know that this TBird was trying to cut off the car behind me  .

damage: like I said, my bumper skin is cracked pretty good. suspension and frame seem perfect. The TBird had fender and headlight and turnsignal parts all over the road.

Yessirree, I likes my OBS

ArthurS 2002-12-30 08:38 PM

at least it didn't screw much up. poor ol' t-bird. Was it a hella nice one? well not anymore anyway.

imprezton 2002-12-30 10:01 PM

It was a HAN-quality car.....I think a '66.

And it will be just fine, once he replaces the corner again

BOO 2002-12-31 04:56 AM

Atleast you weren't Hurt... I am sorry to hear of this but atleast your OBS is drivable and no "Down-Time" involved (As I am typing this I can hear the rain/snow on the my roof coming down hard)since the storm is here ..
Well, Happy New Year to you and your family :)
Ps: Yes, including your doggie

BOO 2002-12-31 04:58 AM

Yup.

We both chew tobacco, too :P

BOO 2002-12-31 08:30 AM

 Ok Maybe I was raised in solitary confinement because I have never heard of a female chewing :? .. LOL

ArthurS 2002-12-31 08:33 AM

This snow is awsome! I have to go out later and get some pics. Iwas almost crushed by a bronco this morning that was sliding everywhere. Damn suv's.

BOO 2002-12-31 08:42 AM

Yeah and I have been scraping snow(for our 3 cars) since 6:30 am .. LOL
:(

ArthurS 2002-12-31 08:44 AM

lol.......just use the 4runner. that should be able to get around allright.

But now, you should go trade in the VW for a Subaru.

BOO 2002-12-31 08:47 AM

lol... Good Morning by the way Arthur :) .. My wife would freak if i traded the VW .. i think i might do the SUV.. SINCE your last encounter with one ..

ArthurS 2002-12-31 08:58 AM

Well, good morning to you also. I have to work till about 2pm, then run out and go to my second job and finish installing this guys home theater. He has a 7k plasma tv and a 4k remote with over 50,000 in his entire theater. These guys sure no how to spend money!

anyway, like I mentioned, our family just bought a 4runner, and it seems the subaru handles much better like 90% of the time, until you put the 4runner in 4wheel low. But when you do that you can't go like aboue 35 or so. (not sure)

BOO 2002-12-31 09:01 AM

WOW !! and I thought the NEW 52" FLAT Screen TV that we just purchased was nice enough .. lol Well have a good day at work and happy/safe Driving :)
Ps: Happy New year's eve :)

sperry 2002-12-31 09:17 AM

Man that sucks about the bumper... sucks even more an old skool T-Bird had to take damage...

People with nice cars need to be more careful! Especially a '66 *anything*... think about how useless the tires and brakes on that car are in snow/ice/wet compared to a modern vehicle!

I think you've got the right idea about waiting for the spring before getting it fixed. I've got a list of about 5 dents I want removed, and a new windshield come spring. I figure, what's the point of fixing it all, then getting nailed by hail or something. When the sun comes out for spring so do the dent doctors...

imprezton 2002-12-31 02:33 PM

It was on dry road. The guy was just trying to muscle in on the car behind me and didn't expect me to brake for a hazard.

Edit: By the way, I'm not angry about this at all. People make mistakes. It incenses me when i-club kids :monkey: someone who made a mistake and bent their precious car. In most cases, the offending driver was a far better driver who just made a mistake. Or perhaps, there's more to the stories than the kids are telling
