Not that I needed it, but.................
My car now has a GT30-12 installed along with Perrin 850cc injectors and fuel pump. Nate's gonna tune it with the Stock Intercooler to see how it does. Right after he's installing a Perrin FMIC. With any luck I'll pick it up on Friday or early next week.
The new exhaust (Greddy EVO2) sounds awesome. Much quieter, but deeper. It didn't raise any concerns at Laguna where they were measuring for anything in excess of 90dB from around 50 feet from the track. It should be pretty rediculous! |

can't wait to see some numbers :D

Hopefully this afternoon we will have the numbers with the stock intercooler. The Perrin intercooler is supposed to arrive today. Then they will dyno it with that monster in front tomorrow or early next week.
Speaking of which, Mike K are you going down to Sac on Monday? |
Pimp My Ride - just, Wow!

FYI, Mike, we may have some parts that Tyson and Nick (with the RS) ordered, if you wouldn't mind taking them back up the hill next week.

That would be great if you could pick up my sway. I'll have to give Nate a call. You can call me when you get back. I'll PM you with my number.

What are the specifics on a GT30-12?
|
Here's the link for the GT30-12

Whoa... looks tough. 55lb/min :p

LINK! Just hit quote on my post and look at the BBCode. |
Thanks Scott.

My car blew up on the dyno! No one was hurt, but it is a mess. Probably should have just stuck with it as it was. :(
|
Oh no
Glad everyone is okay. How is your car? Salvagable? |
Certainly salvagable, but the block is gone as are the heads and the new turbo..............this sucks. I'm just glad no one was hurt. Nate said it was a pretty exciting/depressing event.

So, is this an april fools joke by Nick, or one by Nate?
|
Damn I hope you are kidding.
In other news, my car sprouted wings today, so now it truly flies! |

what kind of numbers was he getting before it blew!!!!
I hope its just an 4/1 joke!!! |

I called to check and Joe said it made 300 whp as a direct bolt on before tuning, but their wideband O2 sensor broke and he was getting a new one this afternoon. He said they would try to stay late and tune it. We should get some bigger numbers early next week with the FMIC installed. Happy April fools you fools  |

Have a great weekend all. |
I just got off the phone with Nate. With the stock intercooler, so far he has 299 whp/305tq. He is going to play with it tomorrow and will hopefully replace the stock boost selenoid with a perrin one. That combined with the turbo inlet and intercooler are now the limiting factors. The Perrin intercooler is on back order so I'm going to pick the car up and bring it back down when that arrives. I'll post tomorrow when I get home what his final numbers with the stock intercooler. Slowboy says we should get 375 whp with this turbo and a front mount (dynapack). That is around 325 on Nate's Mustang dyno. Shouldn't be out of reach. :D
|
cool, high 295-305 whp is about what i expected with the stock TMIC.. hopefully you can get up to the low 300s without the IC and the inlet pipe ;) that'll be great...
still, big numbers either way you go. :D :D :D totally a monster |
Nick is this going to be a track car does nate think you can d-drive this monster how do you think it would auto-x :?:

I want to drive it if you dont mind  are going to be at the first real weekend of autox :?:
|
Nick, where is boost going positive at? Under 3k?

Kevin: I haven't seen any dyno results just a quick discussion with Nate. Obvioulsy it will have a little more lag than the VF39, but I should have more info this evening. Nate is working on it right now. |
I just picked up the car yesterday afternoon. It is a monster on the highway. We still have some more tuning to do in a couple weeks with the addition of the FMIC and some other Perrin goodies.
The car definately has more lag, but is actually more driveable around town as you don't get into the boost so easily. On the highway, the speed that you need to shift between 3, 4 and 5 is rediculous. The idle speed is a little rough due to the larger injectors, but O'well. We're going to just raise the idle speed a little to help smooth it out. Kevin, I can get it into positive boost at 2100 RPM and around 7 PSI at 3000 RPM. Max boost is around 20.5 tapering to 19. When we install the FMIC, we're going to do a run at 25 PSI for yucks! Nate did not get a chance to work on the car yesterday, so currently the numbers are the same - 299/305. Nate thinks we should get another 20 out of it once we can increase the air-flow. By the way - Mike K thanks again for the ride, and unfortunately I think I do have the flu, so start taking your VC and other remedies ASAP. |

Awesome numbers ... but I think I would actualy prefer the old torque curve, especially for autocross
|
Quote:
But, it is still putting down an impressive amount of power everywhere. |
Quote:
Absolutely. I wish I could have that torque curve with the power it has now! For the track though it should be a ton o' fun. Notice the power on the top end doesn't want to taper. If only I could get an 8500 RPM redline.........now that would be interesting. |
Your bottom end is good for close to 8000 of that. You can dyno test with an 8000 rpm redline to see if you get valve float.
|
So what's the explaination of the huge loss of early torque? Is that just the lag from the front mount? Or is that baseline from before the new turbo?
Also, you're only about $8000 worth of head work away from a 9,000 rpm redline! ;) |
