Nick Koan 2005-04-18 09:17 AM

Woah. Its a little late for April Fools jokes. :p

Congrats dude, the number of white Subaru's is finally on the rise.

sti deede 2005-04-18 09:21 AM

Maybe you should break it in before you autoX your new baby.

Congrats Brandon can't wait to see it. Come out to the meet on Thursday!

MattR 2005-04-18 09:23 AM

sperry 2005-04-18 10:04 AM

If you drive it the way you drove the red RS, I got dibs on your block. :P

Dean 2005-04-18 10:53 AM

Umm, yeah. Be nice to it and break it in gently, don't go romping on it when it's brand-new (this applies to the brake system, as well as the powertrain). Follow the factory instructions for break-in procedures.

sti deede 2005-04-18 11:12 AM

Oooh. I didn't know about breaking the other systems. Guess it makes since. I figure mine definately wasn't broken it, being as the guy that had it before me probably knew he wasn't keeping it for long.

MikeSTI 2005-04-18 11:33 AM

WOW!!! did you get your P1's off in time!!! not that they will fit :P

Congrats on the car

He broke it in properly and by the book. He planned on keeping it for awhile, but ended up giving it back due to finance issues.

Nick Koan 2005-04-18 12:27 PM

Break-in is over rated nowadays anyways. Well, engine break-in anyways.

Brand new rotors in particular need to be gently "seasoned" before using them hard.

Good advice.... that's why I'd like to thank Austin for putting miles 110-125 on my car at "combo meal" smell producing punishment levels.

I'd trade Josh's off road adventure for My car's off road excursion any day!

haha doesn't stoptech tell you to do a few 60-0 stops to brake in their brakes?

NevadaSTi 2005-04-18 02:28 PM

Wow, congrats on the new 05 STi, now that makes two 05's in the club.

A few 60-0 (or almost 0... since you don't want to ever come to a complete stop while breaking in brakes) stops are nothing compared to the heat of racing or tracking the car.

A few 60-0 will start to season things since you'll get the rotors up to 2 or 300 degrees. Whereas using the brakes over and over again at RFR will run them up to 6 or 800 degrees. You don't want to do that on totally fresh rotors & pads!

Um, I think that's actually the 4th or 5th '05 in the club.

Sam, ScottB, You, MikeK, and now Brandon. And Nick too, but I'm not sure if his is an '04 or '05.

Nick Koan 2005-04-18 02:34 PM

Nick's is 05 IIRC

Phil has an 05 too, but he's not around anymore. So we'll leave it at 7

sti deede 2005-04-18 03:07 PM

The off-raod adventure was a blast. He probably would have been fine if he didn'ts try and turn around. Of course the path I took ended up pretty freaky, especially when you are whobbling on only 2 wheels and inches from a rocks.

sti deede 2005-04-18 03:13 PM

hmmm.... not listening. I don't want to know about what went on in the offroad adventure.

I didn't do that! That was you and Matt (or somebody else, I can't remember exactly), I heard about that second hand! The only time I've abused the shit out of your car is at the auto-x.

That might have been Jesse when he came to visit, but I'm pretty sure that was you because I remember having to drive your mustang and thinking that the clutch was impossibly stiff.

Either way, my car wasn't hammered too bad during break-in, but it certainly wasn't broken in "gently". I pretty much drove it on day one the way I drive it today.

No way dude, I remember you telling me the story about the "combo-meal" break-in after it happened. And you've thought my clutch was impossibly stiff for a long time, that could have been anytime in the last 5 years. (Although it's not bad at all now since I finally changed the clutch cable)

I disavow all knowledge of and culpability for said combo-meal.

Well, when Scott told me the story, it was you Austin, and the car was smoking when it finally stopped  So, he's had you as the culprit for days now.

Maybe it was his imaginary friend...who knows, it sure as hell wasn't me, I didn't know Scott when he got his car, only soon after.

Dustin's got an '05 STi and an EVO MR.

Congrats Brandon, where are the pics?

Bob Danger 2005-04-18 09:30 PM

Being the manager of the detail department at the local Subaru dealership, I personally gas and wash every STI we recieve. This Includes yours Brandon, and since yours was never test driven, I give you my word that your car was never driven hard.

U53D 2005-04-19 08:59 AM

Yeah, it was nice meeting you Danger!!! Thanks for the good work!
