Nice list it seams we have almost equal amount of mods you have a little more than me but it would be nice to check out your ride.

Here is my list of mods:

Oh wait, I have no mods yet.

sperry 2003-01-20 03:17 PM

Hey man! Gauges next weekend!

ZER026D 2003-01-20 03:22 PM

Did you buy those guages ? if not I might want to get them let me know?

ArthurS 2003-01-20 05:19 PM

Next weekend sounds perfect.

I did enjoy the road trip to California. The car ran great and was really comfortable. The onlt thing I wished for was bigger cup holders for the jumbo sized drinks at jack-in-the-box.

Amen! You can kinda cram the big ones in the upper cupholder, but it doesn't inspire confidence... I feel like Takumi from Initial D trying not to ruin the tofu.

I'm glad the Cali trip was cool. It worked out well since the football games were pretty entertaining on Sunday, and I'm glad I got to watch them on the big screen instead of listen on the radio from the garage... hehe!

ZER026D 2003-01-20 08:57 PM

so I know that we are not the only people in reno that have mods on there car I have seen a hole bunch of WRX's with exhaust systems on them. Like the guy with the carbon fiber hood who is he.

I've only heard of that car, I haven't seen it or the person who drives it...

I've seen a black WRX parked in the KFC parking lot on S. Virginia a few times... the owner prolly works in that shopping center...

The rest of the modded Subaru's that I've seen are the people I've already met... I see Khail occationally, and I saw Ryan once on the road before he got the WRX.

Speaking of Ryan, anyone see him lately? His last posts on NASIOC were in November!!

ZER026D 2003-01-27 05:32 PM

my dent is bigger than yours
http://www.doink.net/images/misc/Zer026D_cracked_up.jpg
edit: fixed the picture

sperry 2003-01-27 09:33 PM

Dare I ask.... WTH happened?

and, btw: that looks totaled... I'm not sure many insurance companies would pay to fix that, since the left rear suspension looks ruined (that rear tire looks toed in... or is it just the missing fender that makes it look that way?) $10k in repairs on a $18k car.... :(

ZER026D 2003-01-27 10:36 PM

They already are I dont know why but its all good thats why I have another 4300$ bill at VIVID for that trunk, SYMS VI bumper and stuff. It looks worse than realy is its just that panel bumper and trunk and end link tail lights but o well wait till you see my car its going to look tits.

ArthurS 2003-01-28 12:18 AM

what did happen? did someone hit you?

ZER026D 2003-01-28 01:03 PM

Got rear ended on H395 by a wagoneer my friend was going like 20 and the wagoneer was going like 60. It looks worse than it is it messed up my axleback and the panel and stuff now my car will have like 14000 repair bill but its all good just wait till you see my car.

khail19 2003-01-28 11:21 PM

Where was that picture taken? Looks like a Subaru junkyard to me, I might have to sneak in there at night and help myself to a car or two.

All you need are some minor brake upgrades (pads and fluid.. maybe lines...), perhaps a rear-swaybar/endlinks, and you got a great all around beefed up sleeper! That should outhandle stock WRXs, and any other car under $30k.

Put that Stage 4 on there, and you're in monster territory!

Make sure you come to the next meet (whenever that is... hey, I'll go start a thread!) I want to check out that ride!

Hey d00d I think maybe like you should have had some punctuation in there somewhere cause it kinda looked like a big run on thing for real or maybe I guess just the dog that was run over somewhere don't know what that was about but ok bye.

The thing I like most about my car (besides it going fast) is that it looks stock. The front brakes are pretty much the only giveaway... unless you start looking underneath it you can't really see anything else.

ArthurS 2003-02-27 05:51 PM

So its pretty much a sleeper. except most people know that 5.0's can move pretty fast stock...(I think).

When they were new... they were pretty fast.. but the bar has been raised so much in the last 10 years that you gotta make like 250hp+ and do 0-60 under 6 seconds to be called "fast" these days. Christ, the Lambo Countach would be considered a dog these days! I guess that's why the new Cobra makes 400hp... gotta stay ahead of the game!

AtomicLabMonkey 2003-02-28 09:32 AM

Yeah, a stock 5.0 is fairly fast but a stock WRX is just as fast, if not quicker off the line cause of the AWD. And a stock WRX definitely out-handles and out-brakes a stock 5.0, especially the older pre-94' fox-chassis 5.0s. Guys with those usually just drag race them, they don't worry about turning or stopping. The 94' and up cars were definitely an improvement, they have a stiffer chassis and better brakes, but still not anything to be excited about. That's why most of my heavy modifications have been to the chassis/suspension and brakes on my car, cause I like to autocross. The power upgrades I've done at a much slower pace, cause it already had a fairly good engine... down here at sea level at least, up there in Reno/Tahoe it's definitely starved for air. And no Scott, I can't go forced induction, that would kick me out of street modified class. :) I think when this motor gives out in a few years I might have the block rebuilt with a 5.4L stroker kit... hehehe.

Dude... FRPP crate motor. Like this one:

http://www.fordracing.com/images/par.../6007-B460.jpg

Quote:

460 cubic inch. Engine dyno-tested at 535 horsepower at 6250 RPM and 530 ft./lbs. of torque at 4750 RPM. Using an 850 cfm carburetor and dyno headers (not included). 10.5:1 compression ratio (Nominal). Ford Racing "Victor Jr." single plane intake manifold M-9424-G429. Ford Racing "Cobra Jet" aluminum heads with Ford Racing valve train M-6049-B429. Ford Racing high performance hydraulic flat tappet camshaft M-6250-C460. 460 2-bolt main short block M-6009-D460, oil and water pumps, oil pan, flywheel, and harmonic balancer. Serious high performance engine for bracket race cars, Fox chassis cars, and marine applications.
Muahahhahha!! Yes, it says "Fox body" but they list 1979-95 'stangs.

ArthurS 2003-02-28 09:48 AM

I want that engine. Just to sit in my room or something....its so beautiful.

I, hopefully, in about a year or so would like to get into a 1987 or so Grand National. I want a boxy lookin sleeper car also. Plus they were pretty fast stock.

http://www.buickgn.com/bittnerpark1smallervers.jpg

(I have too big of a want list....but hopefully this 'want' will come true)

sperry 2003-02-28 09:52 AM

Some one here at work's got one, but I don't think it's the Turbo version:

http://www.doink.net/images/misc/GN%202%20600.jpg

ArthurS 2003-02-28 09:53 AM

I am not sure, but most grand nationals if not al of them were turbo. If that is just a regal, then it may not be.

AtomicLabMonkey 2003-02-28 09:54 AM

Lol "marine applications"... yeah a racing boat, those ones you hear out on the lake at full throttle BWWAHHHHHAAAHHHHHAAAAAHHHHHHHAAAAAHHH. But a carburetor... no. I wouldn't give up fuel injection for that hassle. Second, that thing probably weighs half of what my car does all by itself and I doubt it would fit in my engine bay. Third, I have to keep my original block to stay legal for street mod... but, the displacement limit for N/A cars in SM is 6.0L, so a stroker would work just fine. :)

ArthurS 2003-02-28 09:56 AM

Is that a NSX I see in the background?.....and whats the other red car behind it? Kinda looks like a Ferrari...

AtomicLabMonkey 2003-02-28 09:57 AM

I was reading on Stangnet that somebody with a late 80s Grand National turbo had gotten his up to like 600hp or something ridiculous. I still think they should have put a big V-8 in there like the NASCAR Grand National cars had though.

You know what I just hear?

"Whaaa whaaa whaaa, blah blah blah... I'm a pussy, I don't want 500+hp cuz of a carburator... I have to stay legal... whaa whaa whaa... boats are cool... blah blah blah..."

BTW: there's a 600hp version of that motor too...

Oh, and that new high-tech 5.0 cammer motor rocks! 400hp, 32v DOHC EFI modular V8... it was the motor for the current cobra before they decided to go forced-induction.

NSX, yes... Ferrari, no (it's an MR2). The Ferrari is parked in the executive parking lot in the front of the building (550 Maranello, owned by the VP of my dept.... he's also got a Viper, PT Cruiser, and I think the GT-40 replica is his... )

Someday, I'll put up a "Cars of IGT" page... I got like 100 pictures of the sweet rides from our parking lot! Vettes, a sick RX7, Lotus Esprit (1984 yo!), like 5 WRXs, M3's... and so on, and so on...

ArthurS 2003-02-28 10:09 AM

Damn.....In my parking lot, there is a BMW Z3, and sometimes this guy brings his awsome 3000GT all modded out. Occasionally a few old BMW's and Mercedes. Thats it.

AtomicLabMonkey 2003-02-28 10:11 AM

Yeah, if I ever changed the engine block in my car that 5.0 Cammer is the one that I would want.. even if it is like a $10000 engine. I'd just have to eat Ramen for a few years. Aluminum block, N/A 5.0L, 32-valve DOHC V-8, 430hp @6700RPM... how nucking futs is that, I can't even imagine how much fun that thing would be.

Here's a link so everyone can drool.

I know it's fast, I've seen slips. Also, he had M2 parts before they were out back in the day, so I'm pretty sure he was sponsered. Last someone told be he blew a tranny or something in the motor, so his car's probably jacked up right now. I dunno, I talked to him like 1.5 years ago and I don't have the best memory. All I know for sure is it ran low 12s and was rocking M2 stickers back in the day. I'll probably make it to another meet this summer.
