Vanity plates?

Vanity plates are cheap here. Who's got 'em (since I don't know), and what do they say?

I'm curious.

Like a cat.

Oh, I know yours.

Lonnie: "I was thinking about getting 'NO TURBO'.."

Me: "Nope, someone has that."

Lonnie: "In this state?"

Me: "Ye-es. They're on the message board."

sperry 2006-01-14 01:04 AM

How 'bout: UNTURBO? :lol:

GC8.Love 2006-01-14 01:14 AM

Heh. Well, he suggested "No Boost," but when I looked at our registration for NV, I saw "GC8 LUV" in the plate spot. =P

I don't care too much for GC chassis/engine specifics, so..

But isn't the GC8 the GC body WRX that never came to the US? :P

Don't tease me. ;)

I still think it sounds better than GC6.

But.. I could get an EJ20 swap and a VIN plate to go with.... =D

Maybe in New York. ;)

M3n2c3 2006-01-14 11:31 PM

Dean suggested RSTLESS when I was trying to decide on mine. I would have gone with it had NOTURBO been taken already.

I like it because it obviously says, "restless," but also could loosely be translated as, "RS turbo-less." :D

qksubi 2006-01-15 10:37 AM

Ally my cars have Vanity plates!
QKSUBI= 06 Sti
SUBIHLR= 05 Titian
CMPLK8D= 05 Lexus RX330

Dean 2006-01-16 09:36 AM

My Audi has AQUATRO. It has a couple ways to read it, and points out the people who know nothing about AWD cars, and ask "What's Aqua Tro?"

There were a bunch back in this thread... But at least NOTURBO is already gone...

I always wanted to randomly pull 555 WRC, or 555 STI, or 555 WRX, etc. :devil:

Bob Danger 2006-01-18 11:17 AM

The Carson DMV sucks, I ordered my plates in November and still havn't recieved them.

doubleurx 2006-01-18 11:28 AM

My business partner Matt has vanity plates on his porsche. When we first started our businees we were dRS architects. So he chose DRS MATT. The plate came as DR SMATT. So now people just call him Dr. Smatt.

That's odd - I've ordered custom plates from them twice, and never really had an issue. . . maybe they get backlogged with all the rich kids getting new cars for x-mas. :P

I wonder how long the DMV out here (Reno) will take...

What's the usual charge for vanities?

I think it was only $30 or so on top of what we had to pay to register here...

I can't believe NV takes the CA way and charges based on MSRP. =/

Yeah, it's about $30 extra.

PINION

And suddenly I understand the NIN song title. I always thought the song was an obscure reference to gears.

Now that's a good first post! Referencing NIN while being helpful! :D Welcome to the board!

Clearly Scott doesn't read all the BDSM SPAM he gets... http://www.internetopina.com/images/...s2/Bondage.gif

My RS's plate starts with 5BRU, which almost looks like SBRU from a distance ;)

:cool: I almost went with "Pinion" as my name here. But figured many members of the Subaru community know me as NYR and would shower me with gold bullion and/or praise upon my arrival to the SECCS.

And thanks for the welcome.

So you're saying I should get "BUG STI"?

DZ 2006-01-23 11:48 AM

STi - XSIVPSI
Mustang - GR40 GT

The plate on the STi was a transfer from my old 02WRX and it false advertising at this point. though it does shock many of my Mustang friends when I tell them I am running 17.5 PSI when 8 is fairly standard on the kits for the Mustangs.

The Mustang plate is a reference to the Griggs Racing suspension on the car...

I would imagine that even he would admit that Griggs is quality stuff.

When it came down to making the decision on which to buy I went with the Griggs because they were an hour from where I used to live and that was enough to push me over the edge. And for what it is worth, I have the Maximum Motorsports front swaybar relocation kit on the car as well, just don't tell Bruce...

:lol: Considering all the back-and-forth between the Griggs and Maximum AI cars on track, I'm sure he respects the Griggs lineup.

AtomicLabMonkey 2006-01-23 12:21 PM

Conceptually most Griggs pieces I've seen are fine. I have a problem with the designed (lack of) fatigue strength of some of their parts & manufacturing quality, based on some of the broken parts I've seen come off track cars.

I don't think so... it's 7 total, and that's it. Worse yet, I want the '82 replica blue and white plates, and they have a max of 6 characters. :(
