Now I just need the rest of the appliances, haha. Damn I'm getting old. :(

cody 2006-01-20 09:15 AM

Do those induction stoves work with all flat bottom pots and pans? Aluminum okay?

MPREZIV 2006-01-20 09:18 AM

OOOOOHH! PURTY!

Nick Koan 2006-01-20 09:21 AM

Yours diswasher doesn't match your stove. Ricer.

He's modding in stages. Stage 2 includes a matching dishwasher.

sperry 2006-01-20 10:23 AM

Where are the spinners?

sonicsuby 2006-01-20 10:25 AM

blang blang!!

khail19 2006-01-20 10:31 AM

Ha, your old stove is exactly the same as the one in my house! Which we are also replacing this weekend. We're going black though, only becausewe already have other black appliances to match. I'd love to go stainless everything, but then I wouldn't be able to spend money on my car.

tysonK 2006-01-20 10:33 AM

Do you really do enough cooking to justify that?

Or is this a just mod that actually increases the resale value of the item that has been modded?

"Once you go black..."

bemani 2006-01-20 10:42 AM

I think you can fit a 48" stove if you roll the counter tops.

I don't know. I'll read the manual (gasp) before I use it and let you know what it says. I think they should be fine though.

It's actually faux stainless, but it looks basically the same. I'm dumping all my money into the condo, hence why my car is essentially the same since I graduated from Michigan.

First step in my STG 4+ remodel. I'm replacing all the appliances, counters, sink, floor, probably the cabinets, and knocking out a wall. Partially for re-sale partially because it's ugly right now.

You're not getting old, you're settling into domestication..

J/k.

...or am I?

MattR 2006-01-20 01:12 PM

Nice work JC, I approve.

I never thought I'd see the day when we talked about appliances, but what the hell....

I need a new garbage disposal in the kitchen sink, anyone have the low-down on what's hot?

sonicsuby 2006-01-20 01:28 PM

Maytag has a batch feed one that looks pretty bad ass. It's got auto on capability with a special lid

khail19 2006-01-20 01:34 PM

What colors does it come in? I want Cherry Blossom Red under my sink.

Sweet...That sounds cool. I'm assuming any garbage disposal can be made to work with any sink.

I'd link you to the page on the home depot site but they're genius web developers made it so you can't link to any of their god damned pages

Maybe lowes has it? It was $300 though, which is pricey considering you can get one that is probably really good for like $70 :D

They are fairly universal. Every one I've installed went on exactly the same way.

As far as I know, they are universal and that you should buy one with at least 1 hp. I found this hilariously awful site about them...

I'm just giving you a hard time. Besides, I'm the one who said I had to go put away laundry and stuff the other day. =/

Appliances are nice.

But I've been thinking about bathroom fixtures lately.

I swear that a couple grand on a full immersion, disappearing edge bathtub isn't too much...

You always give me a hard time. I don't think being less domesticated than you means a whole lot, no offense. :p Ya I'm going to redo my bathroom in a few months too. I don't have the room or the $$$ (well without doinkin' my credit cards) for a fancy blingin' tub like you though.

tysonK 2006-01-20 03:28 PM

I'm all burnt out on re-modeling houses from living where I am.

We have built a wall, re-done the bathrooms, all new paint inside out, all new floors, the list goes on in a tired fashion.

Don't be such a pussy. My parents have remodeled two complete condos, and built a house in Canada in the past year or so. I guess my mom is just tougher than you.

I'd offer you the results from Consumer Reports, but I'd just get bashed by the haters. PM me if you want them.

Yes, but you want the one that can eat a whole cake in less than 10 seconds.

In sinkerator Pro SS!

doubleurx 2006-01-20 08:03 PM

JC congrats with the Condo. No money is ever lost in home improvements, unless of course they end up burning downt the house.

If you're doing any major work, feel free to send me any questions.

Since there are no intangibles when reviewing a household appliance, we would all be willing to accept CR's statements at face value. ;) It's only when they get into automotive stuff that they're idiots who think cars are merely ways to get people and stuff from one place to another.

Gabage Disposals (Haters stay out)

No update since 2/02, so aparently not a volitile industry. All $ from 2002 as well...

Short answer, you can't beat Kenmore bang/buck on most models. Don't buy based on Warrenty or price!

Best for under $150 Kenmore 60554 $135 #3 of 18 behind $420 Viking, and $160 In-Sink-Erator 555sss by a smidge.

Best for under $100 Kenmore 6011 $70 (Lowest priced/rated Kenmore comes in #8 of 18, and dominates some that cost 2-2.5 X and is only slightly behind the 4 between it and the 60554.

Avoid GE, Whirlpool, In-Sink-Erator Badger series, Maytag, SinkGuard. Others vary.

That looks like a bottle of beer in the corner. Is that for decorative effect? A feng shui thing? ;)

I'm pretty sure those are used for getting drunk.

I merged Dean's garbage disposal back in here where it's relevant. Let's keep the suzi homemaker crap in one place. :P

Don't be mad just because my condo cost less than your car.
