Gauging Interest: 04 wrx seats
I am going to buy new seats sometime in the future because the stock seats are too narrow in the leg area and are killing me. I just wanted to see if there was anyone locally interested in buying some of these seats. There are no rips worn down spots or stains, black on black.
|
PM Trisca. Her husband and her were just complaining about their Outback's seats. Will 04 WRX seats fit in a MY 03 OB?
|
I think they'll fit, almost a drop in too. But not quite.
|
I'm very interested, depending on your price. My seats are pretty torn up, and I like the 04 style better anyways. How much?
|
i was thinking around 400, at least thats what ive seen.
|
My budget is more like $300, but I don't really know what they are worth. If you don't get any better offers then let me know. I'm not saying they aren't worth 400, I just can't spend that much right now. Thanks.
|
That's not really in our budget at the moment so count us out, thanks anyway. Or more acurately, I am not spending that kind of money on seats for my car, there's better things for me to buy, like shoes! ;-)
The seats are not really that bad, I can live. |
I know ScottyS said buying my 03 WRX seats for his OB was one of the best decisions of his life.
|
I'd love to get them, let me know when you are getting the new seats and we'll talk money.
|
ok sounds good. Does anyone have suggestions on good replacement seats. I like the design of my current seats, im just looking for wider. I am looking at the Sparco Monzas but it would be cool to know of some good alternatives.
|
Most of the aftermarket seats are actually tighter than the factory seats. You might want to see if someone w/ an '04 STi is willing to trade you + cash, asn the '04 STi seats run wide. I know Dean was complaining at one point that he liked his '02 WRX seats better than his '04 STi seats.
Plus, w/ the STi seats, you'll have no issues w/ mounting brackets, and I believe they've even got the side impact airbags. |
I thought the 04 Sti and WRX seats were the same frame and padding, with different covers? I read that somewhere not long ago.

I think most people have said the 04+ WRX seats aren't nearly as tight fitting as the 02-03 seats. I think the 04+ Sti seats get the same complaints. I know I've sat in an 04 WRX and the seats are definitely looser than my seats. I think the USDM Sti seats are the same, with a different cover on them.
|
The whole reason I was looking at the Monza seat was because I saw it in a nasioc members car and he said the reason he got it was because of the same problem. Does anyone know of a place in town that has a seat display that you can sit in? I have sat in the one at summit racing but I dont like any of those seats. Im pretty sure fibercraft racing has some seats but I dont think those seats are what im looking for.
|
Seat yourself and your passenger in thrones.

From looking at the pictures on sparcousa it looks like the Monza utilizes the same frame base width as the Torino which I used to have in my WRX(long ago). Those seats were much tighter than the oem 03 seats.
I'm not sure what that nabisco guy is talking about. |
I haven't seen any seat displays in town except at Summit.
|
well son of a bitch

The 02-03 seats don't look as cool as the 04+, but they sure feel awesome for thin(ner) folks. I even managed to acquire a second set for the next Suby I purchase. |

I was just looking at the Corbeau seats and it looks like most of the reclining seats come in a wider version too. Prices aren't too bad either.

thanks for that link. I was just in fibercraft racing yesterday and they sell corbeau seats but they only have the buggy seats in stock. Im gonna ask if they can order one of those so I can sit in it before I buy it. And then theyre probably gonna tell me to go suck a d!@k
|
How big a guy are you? Have you sat in the Recaro SRD?
|
If not, come to the meet tonight and you can try out mine. :D
|
I really like the look and the PRICE!! of the Corbeau A4 wide seat. I just need to get a sit in one and then ill be golden.
Player stats 6'3 270 38-40 waist, 4,784 career rushing yards... |

I want player stats too! 6'4", 200, 36" waist, 12W, 8L, 42 Saves with a .288 batting average lifetime. |

then we can all join. |

Pretty sure that you won't fit in the Recaro SRD, Just thought I'd throw out a suggestion.
And I'm still working on my career stats. ;) |

Yeah....YEAH! |
Fatasses fit in SRD's for some reason......*shrugs*
Mine's snug, but I like it, and I drive ~160+ miles/day. 6', 300, 44" waist, .302 batting average lifetime (teeball) :D |
6'2", 175, 29" waist, extra muscle in my legs that makes me faster than you!
|
Well you better be fast because thats my brother-in-laws stats and last time we played football I shucked him like a piece of corn.

(...that makes me feel like a fat-ass! :() |
Kiss my ass!
Being thin and in good shape nowadays means you're scrawny, but only compared to your average FAT ASS American! :P |

I was in 7th grade when I hit 155.

I'm husky.
|
I'm just kind of fat. I'm OK with that though.

I've even tried putting on wieght, (when I was kickboxing) and to no avail! Shit, I've essentially been this size since I was in the 8th grade. I was an absolute FREAK at >6' and only 14 yrs old at the time! The biggest I've ever been was 190, with weight training and diet managing, but then I moved to AZ to go to school, and lived off Ramen for 2 years, so there that went... |

I've been waiting for that slowing metabolism, but it ain't caught me yet... Still burnin' like a humminbird! Honestly tho, the workout I get at work alone is MUCH more than the average person does by far! I'm sure the "generally active" life that my profession affords me is a big help in keeping my girlish figure!
|
6'2", 185ish with 34" waist explains why Cory now owns my Cobra Suzuka and I have a Recaro SRD. And I have the same problem as Cory- once I get in shape and get my body fat down, I weigh ~175 and can't do shit to put on muscle mass.
Anyways, the SRD works for bigger guys because it's fairly wide across the thigh bolsters and is somewhat open on the shoulders. It's not especially wide, but the upper makes a more concave curved shape than smaller seats which are more U-shaped, hence guys like Aaron fitting in them great while guys like me still get enough lateral support. Oh yeah, .245 lifetime BA and 3 catches for 28 yards. :p |
If I had a second car... :(
I'm still putting around with a half-set (rear, even!!) of V3 in the RS.. |
