WTB: S U B A R U badging

Hooray for stupid classing rules. Anybody have theirs laying around collecting dust, and willing to sell it to me for pocket change, or pencil shavings?

Dean 2007-03-08 05:09 PM

Crap, I just went and looked, and I need the Subaru, and the WRX logo. The only thing still on mine is the STI. Kevin, if we have t mail order, let's both not get raped on shipping.

sperry 2007-03-08 05:28 PM

I'll sell mine to the highest bidder:

Cheap bastards biding war... READY, GO!!!

khail19 2007-03-08 05:32 PM

I have mine as well somewhere in the garage. I'll take a look later and let you guys know.

Hey man, I've got a $3500 cage to pay for!! Don't screw w/ my plan, I figure I could make up to $20 per letter on this deal!

$20 for both the big SUBARU and the WRX - Impreza from the lower left...

Cash money at the meet.

Edit, or maybe you should just give them to me so I don't have to run in SM!

Bidding will remain open until I get my car back from Hayward and take the badging off. :P

Read my Ninja Edit bid above...

Kevin M 2007-03-08 05:49 PM

You mean your non-ninja edit? :p

And it looks like I may have scored mine for pocket change...

It ain't a ninja edit, if there's a time stamp on it. :P

Also, you're welcome to come play w/ me in SM... as long as my car's not half-broken all the time like last season, I think it'll be fast enough to make up for my driving skill.

Kevin M 2007-03-08 05:50 PM

If not, dibs on Khail's... no ninja edits required!

Dean 2007-03-08 06:02 PM

Just because the edit has a time stamp doesn't make it non-ninja.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/defin...erm=ninja+edit

Kevin M 2007-03-08 06:32 PM

First, Ninjas are undetectable when they do anything they do... so an edit note on your post means it's not a ninja edit.

Second, Scott's post was 1 minute ahead of your edit... so it's not a ninja edit according to your link either. :p

Dean 2007-03-08 06:39 PM

OK, mark this date... and time... I was wrong... :P

Kevin, it might be a bit before I actually find those damn things. I only know I have them because they are no longer on my trunk and I never throw anything anyway. How soon will you need them?

M3n2c3 2007-03-08 06:55 PM

I have mine lying around. . . but why do I get the feeling I'm going to need it? What's going on?

JonnydaJibba 2007-03-08 07:15 PM

Removing stock badging puts you in a different class from stock something or other.

M3n2c3 2007-03-08 07:20 PM

Yeah, I just read the new rules. That's bullshit. I guess I'm running STS this year just because I decided to debadge my trunk last year.

khail19 2007-03-08 08:12 PM

How can they possibly justify that badging affects anything? That's just...wait for it...

ASININE!

I plan to pick up some rotors from you in early April. I can wait til then, although it looks like I might have scored some in the bay area this weekend. If so, I can get yours to Dean when I come in.

I think the rule is to prevent guys from running in the wrong class intentionally in cars that outwardly appear to be the same as slower trims/versions of a car, like a Z28 vs. SS Camaro or something. Cars that have significant differences in performance by the stopwatch, but would be hard to tell jsut watching them or even looking under the hood.

100_Percent_Juice 2007-03-08 10:08 PM

I have mine.

wrxkidid 2007-03-08 10:11 PM

what class would you have to run if you were originally in esp and have nobadges does it change?

Kevin M 2007-03-08 10:23 PM

Welcome to Street Mod.

tysonK 2007-03-08 10:34 PM

What if you have extra badges?

Probably OK, as long as they don't replace factory badges.

If you can put on stickers for sponsors, etc. badges are just thick stickers.

If that's the case, my SUBARU badge might work for you guys, but I don't have a WRX badge for Dean since mine's an RS. And I don't even know if the SUBARU letters from my car are the same as whatever yours came with stock. I doubt anyone will get that technical though.

Street mod aint so bad, you guys will feel very welcome here!

muhahahahha ... bitches

cody 2007-03-09 09:03 AM

I still have my badges somewhere, I just really don't want to put them on, especially since I'm supposed to get my car repainted this Summer...

I might just run SM since I don't really think I stand much of a chance of taking ESP anyway, but I'd prefer to run in the same group as Nick and Derrick.

Put the badges on magnets... I was considering that. Then you can mess with the letters as well. "U R A BUS" would be appropriate for your car. :)

JonnydaJibba 2007-03-09 09:16 AM

Dang, that's a good idear.

I meant the 2007 rule book. I don't remember badging being an issue in SP last year.

At any rate, the thing that gets my goat about it is that debadging is legal in ST. . . but I can't run 235/40-17 tires in STS.

I may join you guys in SM. Is 78SM free? Or maybe RNP. . .

I don't suppose it could be argued that in Japan the cars come from the factory without the S U B A R U badging. . . :P

I think putting them on magnets complies with the intent of these two rule sections:

Quote:

13.2 BODYWORK
A. Accessories, gauges, indicators, lights and other appearance,
comfort and convenience modifications which have no effect on
performance and/or handling and do not materially reduce the
weight of the car are permitted.

15.2 BODYWORK
Vehicles may only exceed the allowances of 13.2 as specified herein.

B. Removal of factory trim is only permitted if the resultant configuration
is an allowed update or backdate.
By having them on the car complies with 15.2 and putting them on the car and the magnets would fall under 13.2 IMHO.

OMG... Large versions of those would rock as car numbers and class letters.

You can run STX, in which you will be much less out-classed by other Subarus. Actually, your car isn't that much slower than an STX WRX on many coruses anyway.

As for the rest of you... I think you have strength in numbers enough to physically beat down anybody who decides to protest this issue.
