AutoX April 14, 15

OK, well I may be jumping the gun here. According to WEATHER.COM, the weather for this upcoming weekend is suppost to be exactly the same as last years' event.

Make sure you bring your heavy jackets!!!

Other than the weather, I can't wait.

I guess bring your sunblock to put on under your jacket.

You should always race.

MattR 2007-04-09 02:59 PM

It will be fine, it's just a school and test on Saturday, Sunday will be clear. Jesus loves Autocross.

I just filed my taxes and needless to say this tax season was evil to me. I will not be spending money on a helmet this month. Maybe later

Dear little Baby Jesus, please let it be sunny for autocross.

Dude, you can use a loaner helmet (they only itch a little at first).

NevadaSTi 2007-04-09 03:44 PM

Plus 1 for a loaner helmet. Did my taxes, and they were very evil to me. However, its not like I have the money to give to those RAT BASTARDS anyway.

Humm. This is interesting. Excerpt taken directly from the 2007 Reno Region Supplemental rules.

3.3.2. Novice Class Eligibility
Drivers that have never competed in more than 50%
region or club are eligible for the Novice program.

From my understanding, when I sell my STI to Pete and get another vehicle, I can actually run it in Novice till I get used to it. I only made it to 50% of the events last year. I only made like 4 events the previous year.

bxracer69 2007-04-09 03:46 PM

I'll probably come down and hang out. I still need to get a new windshield, mount up the tires and get an alignment before I saddle up to race. The funds are still looking a little low from my BX race season too. So it will probably be September when I race out here.

True, but if you run at all this season in AS (or whatever) and switch to N, you're not eligible for Novice awards.

When I get a helmet he wont be eligible for those anyways.;)

cody 2007-04-09 08:35 PM

What time do we show up on Saturday?

Kevin M 2007-04-09 08:38 PM

NLT 8 AM if you can, especially if you didn't get Annual Tech.

wrxkidid 2007-04-09 09:51 PM

Come to a few events, it won't take long to learn how an event is run.

NevadaSTi 2007-04-10 06:48 AM

If you are smart enough to be in a debate club, you should be able to figure out how an AutoCross event is ran.

Scott, I'm not concerned about taking a novice award. Its pretty obvious that I am not a novice. I am more interested in learning a new car (if Pete gets his loan) then being the top Novice Class driver.

JonnydaJibba 2007-04-10 08:13 AM

Yeah dude, you can just borrow a helmet, then it's only 35 bucks. I'm excited. =D

No reason not to run in ESP for points while you're 'learning' the car, which shouldn't really take you all that long to be honest. Running in class will help you gauge your progress in the car. running Novice doesn't really give you a way to quickly check how fast you are (or aren't).

MattR 2007-04-10 11:42 AM

No, not at all, but we don't have a magnet man anymore :(

I'm sure someone will be around during your run group. Ask them if you can take a ride along with them, or if they mind riding along with you for a lap.

Kevin M 2007-04-10 09:09 PM

Saturday is the school... if you signed up as a student, you are pretty much guaranteed instructor help if you want it.

NevadaSTi 2007-04-11 12:33 PM

So, who is running what classes?

I'm in AS, anyone else?

Also, can we create a sticky thread for Autocross pictures for the whole 2007 season? That way we can all post pictures to the same topic instead of different topics for different events?

MattR 2007-04-11 05:33 PM

BSP para mi. Sticky picture thread sounds good, but I don't take pictures so hopefully someone else will.

No more Street mod eh? What did you have to take off to become legal?

MattR 2007-04-11 05:42 PM

I was always BSP legal, I ran SM for the challenge, now, I'm running race tires in BSP, and Those crazy F's in SM have too much HP.

Pat R. 2007-04-11 06:06 PM

Have fun y'all. I'll be carving corners in a moving truck all day Saturday & Sunday.

If he can find someone to "spot" him and checks in with the safety steward, he can go on track and take pics all day. We definately need more AutoX pics. My camera is crap.

No problem at all. You should be done in the morning on Sunday by noon or so.

WRX06TR 2007-04-11 10:21 PM

Cool, this should be interesting. Good thing i got the RE92s on yesterday. Its going to be a cone massacre!!! How much is the entrance fee? And can i count on somebody having a pump or should i fill my tires at the Shell station on the way? Anything else i need to bring? My friend in the GTI might come out too.

Kevin M 2007-04-11 10:25 PM

$25/day for members, $35/day for non-members. You would possibly be able to borrow an air pump before you had to work or drive, but it's easier to pump your tires up to about 40psi cold and let the air out as they heat up between runs before you get there. Other than that, just bring your driver's license, cash or check to cover your entry, and don't forget to show up early for tech, since it's the first weekend of the year!

WRX06TR 2007-04-11 10:35 PM

Alright, thank you. See you guys on Sunday. I can't make the meet tomorrow.

wrxkidid 2007-04-11 11:30 PM

what time should we be there at on sunday if we need to get teched? i know saturday was 8 but i figured id rather be safe than sorry. also can you run all day for 35 or do you have to pay to run in the afternoon as well?

ill see if he can come or not. hes semi trying to start a photog business but between school and sports hes not having much luck but he is super good none the less. what do you mean by "spot" him?

btw how much does a loaner helmet without weird fungi cost?

You're tellin' ME!

Robbie, show up at 8 at the latest, so you can get through reg. and tech in time for the driver's meeting. Really, I suggest to all newbies to do like I did last year and get there as early as you can, i.e. 7am, and help set up the track. It really helps you get a good look at the courses and get familiar with them.

By "spot him", Cody means that you have to have someone along with you at all times on the track while you're taking pics. If you're focused on taking a picture of a car, looking through the view finder of your camera, you might not see the car spinning out coming up behind you, so you MUST have a spotter to watch yo' back!

Loaner helmets are free if I recall correctly, you just have to clip your driver's license to their clipboard as collateral, so they can make sure you bring the helmet back!

NevadaSTi 2007-04-12 06:33 AM

Spoting is a safety issue, if your buddy is concentrating on taking pictures, he isn't exactly looking out for the car he doesn't see. I.E. people get hurt that way.

Plan on being there by 7:30 AM.

I think running in the afternoon costs an extra $10...I know it does for members anyway.

Loaner helmets are free. I borrowed helmets all last year. I finally picked one up before the free track day at RFR though. IIRC, it was like $120 from Summit Racing.

Kevin M 2007-04-12 09:02 AM

Running a second session in the afternoon is $10 for all drivers.

Nick Koan 2007-04-12 09:26 AM

What is this snow doing on the ground today? Its two days early.
