Season Finale Autocross: Stead, Oct. 6-7

Kevin and I are the event chairs and hope we will have great support from the SECCS crew.

Course is still under design, mostly by Kevin, but likely elements will be:

Crossover slalom (Sat. only)
Return of the Octagon
Walls of doom
And......
Finishes that don't suck!!!

JonnydaJibba 2007-09-26 09:28 AM

Finishes that don't suck, I like that.

Nick Koan 2007-09-26 09:34 AM

Aw man, I like finishes that suck.

MattR 2007-09-26 09:42 AM

Dean, I cannot get out of work friday to help, but you can plan on me early Saturday and Sunday.

MPREZIV 2007-09-26 09:58 AM

Same as Matt, no on Friday, but I'll surely be there early on the weekend to help out!

MikeK 2007-09-26 10:09 AM

I can definately leave by lunchtime on friday (take that, work!)

sperry 2007-09-26 10:50 AM

I'll only show up if someone can provide me with a co-drive... I need to run the last weekend to qualify for a trophy... which won't make a big difference to me, since I'm not gonna win anything this year, but it will mean 5 season-long competitors in SM rather than 4, which is the difference between Cory getting a 3rd place trophy and getting nothing.

So Cory, wanna let me co-drive? ;) :D

bxracer69 2007-09-26 11:35 AM

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im going to visit my bro in AZ for the weekend, I had the plane ticket booked months ago and completely forgot to check the schedule. I am an idiot!!!!

Som bitch! I knew there was something I was overlooking... Yeah man, I'll have to swap the seat out, but I'm sure that could be arranged

Joeyy 2007-09-26 03:25 PM

The last autoX of the season and the start of the funny season.

No more wagon for me. No more DSP Mini (after the last two events). No more ESP Camero but sounds like a return of the DSP RS Monster. Who really knows what Kevin is going to be in next year? I don't see the Riggs Camero ever coming around (they'll switch to something else).

Additionally, I opened up my fortune cookie and it read,"Next summer, you will dance to a different beat". What the hell does that mean?

Joeyy 2007-09-26 03:51 PM

I work Thursday night but can make it out Friday after a little nap.

M3n2c3 2007-09-26 07:00 PM

Wish I could make it. . . I really liked the octagon.

van 2007-09-26 07:26 PM

This will be my first and last autox of the season. I can help out early sat and sunday for sure. What goes on friday? I may be able to get out of work early, gotta make it the rest of the week though:| . I kind of need someone to hold my hand this weekend though as its my first event ever. Any help is appreciated:)

wrxkidid 2007-09-26 08:21 PM

i can help out early atleast one day if not both.

Ill be driving too since the doctor decided to go PT and regular activities and she said i could race :D

Slopoke21m 2007-09-26 09:43 PM

Danggit!!!!, I remember the octagon from last year (it was my first autocross) when i ran Chris' RS. Drifting an AWD car, and you may wonder why I'm going to race at Fallon. That was so much fun. When David Jansen came up to me earlier this year and said he could tell I drove a racecar before because I was tossing the Camaro into the left hander by the bleachers, I shouldve seen the writing on the wall. Anyway, you guys have a blast, and I may end up showing up on Sunday if anybody wants to see the Camaro. Louie

Kevin M 2007-09-26 09:47 PM

The event is shaping up to be a lot of fun. I predict a lot of driver shenanigans and silliness based on most of the classes and positions being locked up already.

Would anybody care to pitch in by replacing me at the registration table on both mornings? I am pretty sure that course setup and whatever other crap goes on will keep me busy during morning registration, so if anybody wants to pitch in and give Nick (and possibly Carrie) a hand there, I'd really appreciate it!

tysonK 2007-09-26 10:36 PM

My legacy in autocross lives on.

I'm almost positive I'll be working Sat, but not Sun.

I better get the evo running.

Emboyoyo 2007-09-27 08:25 AM

I wont be at autocross on Saturday but I will be there sunday....maybe with my car...if I don't have my car then I'll just watch or something...haha!

You could always just beat Nick in his car :)

Kevin M 2007-09-27 08:52 AM

What Mike said. That's pretty much how it works around here.

Emboyoyo 2007-09-27 08:58 AM

 HAHA! Yeah I might do that!! If he lets me!!

Dean 2007-09-27 09:13 AM

It would be fun to drive an AS Corvette on race tires one day and a Sky on Streets the other or maybe an ES Miata. ;)

MattR 2007-09-27 09:30 AM

I will be driving a DSP mini one day

Yes, I would love it if someone would like to volunteer to help me out.

Don't sweat it. I regularly had the slowest time of the day when I was starting out, as has everyone else I'm sure.

Nick Koan 2007-09-28 10:58 PM

Yeah, you've got to start somewhere.

wrxkidid 2007-09-28 10:58 PM

I was never slowest of the day :D

Thanks to Cory's exoert coaching/yelling.

cody 2007-09-29 10:07 AM

I DNF'd every run last Saturday and I can't even blame being noobish. It's all about having a good time. :)

van 2007-09-29 11:22 AM

I'm gonna dnf the whole event

Don't worry, I'll be there next season to make you look better. Gotta resurrect my 18 year-old cone skills. Killer Pintos for life...

Yeah, Cory was the one who told me to go slow. Its ok. I shaved off 11 seconds and dnf'd and my last run.

M3n2c3 2007-10-04 09:09 PM

Kevin's course convinced me that I have to go, so I will be there saturday afternoon. :)

cody 2007-10-04 09:52 PM

W00t! And yeah, the course looks fun!

Octagon!!!

wrxkidid 2007-10-04 10:16 PM

I'm excited.

MPREZIV 2007-10-05 07:04 AM

I've been challenged to some doriftoring...

Yes, you have.

:liljon:

Dean 2007-10-05 03:58 PM

Course is set! There are two distinct sides of the course... Finesse and Fast.... Should be a blast.

The course can be negotiated in the bus with the trailer on, so there should be no first gear even for Mike. :)

Due to the weather this afternoon and evening, we may have to reset/remark/rechalk some to all of the course in the AM, so any help would be appreciated starting after 7:00AM.

See you there.

van 2007-10-05 04:14 PM

I would love to help. Has an event ever been canceled because of weather? Rain autox cross sounds like fun even if the forcasters say its done.

Kevin M 2007-10-05 04:15 PM

Nope, we will run no matter what.
