What do you guys think about these?

I have been looking at picking up a "cheap" set of wheels to keep a set of summer tires on. I really don't like any of the Rota's that are 17x8 and I don't want to jump up to an 18". I found these on Tire Rack, they look pretty good, I am just thinking that they may look a little funny without a BBK behind them...

I've never really been a big fan of five spokes. Off to check I-club to see if I can find ya something better.

WRX06TR 2008-02-29 12:57 AM

I also looked at the NT03-M but I'm not sure how I feel about them... The Crawford car makes them look sick but I need to see them in person.

Why the hell are there two valve stems?

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...All&sort=Brand

I found out on Enkei's website. "THE NTO3+M ALSO FEATURES A RACING TWIN VALVE DESIGN WHICH ALLOWS FOR ACCURATE MONITORING WHILE ADJUSTING THE PRESSURE"

5x100 correct? I think these would look bad ass.

WRX06TR 2008-02-29 01:07 AM

Those do look pretty good. But I'm not a huge fan of time attack wheels. And probably wouldn't have the cash to pick those up before that guy sells them. Thanks tho...

I feel that they look awesome!

I think Advan RGII's are sick! So I guess I kinda like the rota boost wheels too.

tysonK 2008-02-29 08:00 AM

The NT03-M do not look that good in regular 17" subaru fitment.

The crawford car is on 18's and a very(widebody) different offset from what I can tell, which makes the wheels look good.

17X7, but seems like a good deal.

^The only problem with those is that I already have a perfect set of tires in my garage. So $1500 plus shipping from TX...ouch.

I like the big 5 spoke RP03's but they are going to leave me wanting a BBK

Kevin M 2008-02-29 10:32 AM

If you feel bad about small brakes behind your wheels, just come look at my car on 17s sometime...

cody 2008-02-29 10:39 AM

I like the RP03's but if you want to save some cash and have a similar look/weight:

I love the RGII's... but could only afford the Boosts... too bad they don't make 'em in 5x114.3 and 9.5" wide or I'd get another set.

Was that your bugeye when it was still 5x100? What did you do with those wheels? Definitely a great look you had there.

Nick Koan 2008-03-01 12:02 AM

I've always liked the idea of the NT03, but never the execution.

The Compomotive TH2 looks similar but better (but, unfortunately out of production and more expensive).

As for the RP03, I can't say I'm a fan. I'm more on a multi-spoke tip at the moment, so take that with a grain of salt.

WRX06TR 2008-03-01 12:50 AM

Well, that pic of the STi Joeyy posted really made me rethink the G-Forces. I can't believe I'm saying it but maybe I will get a set of Rota G-Force...wow never thought I would pick up Rota's  I guess I weigh to much in brand names...

That was the picture I took for the Gran Tursmo comparison:

Your real life wing is too short. Get your car some ExtenZe™ and get back on the track!

WRX06TR 2008-03-03 10:41 AM

Well, I am in the process or saving up some cash but I am torn on what color Rota's. Bronze, Gold, or Gun Metallic?

http://www.subydude.com/osc/product_...roducts_id/382

cody 2008-03-03 10:54 AM

What color is your car? I've got Torques in Gunmetallic. It's very black with some silver fleck in it. And after using their touch up kit, you can hardly tell how many rock chips are in them.

WRX06TR 2008-03-03 11:15 AM

Sorry, I thought it was in my profile, Its OBP.

JonnydaJibba 2008-03-03 03:17 PM

I vote bronze.

Sybir's wagon is so hot! I had never seen it before.

You've probably heard it though (even from Germania) :P

WRX06TR 2008-03-04 04:11 PM

I am going to hijack my own thread but anybody know of a place to get tires shaved here in Reno? I am going to need to have that one new Kumho cut down a bit. I read that the tolerance for a Subaru is usually 2/32 in. difference and I will right at or just past that mark and I would rather be safe than sorry...

cody 2008-03-04 04:30 PM

It matters less if you run it in the front, but there is a place that Dean recommends all the time.

WRX06TR 2008-03-05 11:31 PM

So Dean, where do you recommend?

Dean 2008-03-06 09:19 AM

Do a search.... I think it is Sunshine in Sparks. The retread place I liked is done.

dknv 2008-03-06 09:41 AM

Let us know if you get it done there -- because I had heard they were not shaving tires anymore.

WRX06TR 2008-03-13 12:31 PM

Well...since I am incredibly indecisive I am not going to get any of the afore mentioned wheels  .
Instead, after checking prices, I found something in my price range. Actually I plan on ordering them later tonight or tomorrow...just wondering, do I need to get hubcentric rings or new lugs?

http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q...5-06Shoot9.jpg

5Zigen FN01R-C 17x8

Nick Koan 2008-03-13 12:36 PM

I love FN01-RC wheels. Good choice.

You will need new lugs. Hubcentric rings are not a 100% necessity, but it might be nice to get them (if the wheels require them, I really don't know).

cody 2008-03-13 12:39 PM

Uh, I aforementioned them.

And if you order them from Edge Racing, they'll come with the rings if they're required (I bet they are) and probably lugs too, but check with them to be sure. Those are a freakin' steal at $150 each and ($60 for Ground shipping 4).

Dean 2008-03-13 12:45 PM

The correct rings should be included with any wheel purchase if the center bore is not already correct like say on many if not all Rotas...

Lugs are likely required due to clearance. Don't get raped though. Summit and eBay have them at reasonable prices. you want either spline driver or smaller than stock hex. I lean toward the later as you can use standard tools on them.

The cheapo cylindrical "Tuner" lugs that use a star or square drive on the end are BAD!

Shit, get them mounted with RT-615's (225/45R17) and they're $1120 shipped.

WRX06TR 2008-03-13 02:23 PM

Thanks guys...Cody why did you quote yourself? All I need now are lugs and that one Kumho, sweet!

cody 2008-03-13 03:06 PM

I talk to myself a lot apparently. :P

100_Percent_Juice 2008-03-13 04:47 PM

Mine have the rings. I assume they come with them.

I also would not suggest locking lugs unless you really want the extra pain. Anybody stealing wheels will have the right tools to get past any type of wheel lock.

I have a set of open ends, but they would be ugly for a street car.
