It's dream garage time again!

Here's the rules this time, I'm trying to make it difficult:

5 cars: winter beater, daily driver, fun car for the street, fun car for the track, and a collector car.
5 countries: no two cars can be from the same country of origin.
5 decades: no two cars can be from the same decade.

Cars must be production based cars, money is no object, bonus coolness for low volume or special edition cars.

I'll start:

winter beater: 1979 Jeep Wagoneer (USA)

daily driver: 2009 Subaru STi Spec-C (Japan)
http://www.nihoncar.com/news_pics/787/news.jpg

street: 1999 Aston Martin Vantage 600 (UK)
http://www.carforums.net/reviews/mak...onmartin11.jpg

track: 1989 BMW E39 M3 (Germany)
http://www.worldofstock.com/slides/TRC1563.jpg

collector: 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO (Italy)

You're missing a picture. Can 2 people share the same car?

Which one? They're all in my cache, so I see all 5.

2 people can pick the same car, if you're cool with being unoriginal! :P

Nice Nick. I really wanted to pick the Land Cruiser as well, but didn't want to waste my Japan pick on a truck... so I tried to pick the US equivalent from the 70's.

tysonK 2008-08-26 06:26 PM

The country rule made it hard! I know I could have done better in the daily driver, have to think about it. I had a few choices but I like the GT. I didn't want a Skyline for the track even one from the 90's.

winter beater
1988 Volvo 480 Turbo (sweden)

the year made it tough here. I guess I could have found something from italy, but meh.

http://www.carfolio.com/images/dbima...d/1306/480.jpg

daily driver
2006 Bentley Continental GT (england)

I just like them, I know it's a rapper video car.

http://www.autocult.com.au/img/galle...eOmata2447.jpg

fun car for the street
1963 Chevy Nova (usa)

Sentimental pick for my Dad so we can cruise around. My dad and his brothers pooled their money to get a used one, back in the day!

fun car for the track
1999 Acura NSX (jdm yo!)
http://www.autocarparts.com/images/p.../acura_nsx.jpg

collector car
1954 Porsche Spyder 550 (in red thank you) (grrmany)

kinda tough choice because I wanted a GT3 for the track....also I'd probably pick the 959 if the 2 were in front of me.

I saw one of these in Mendocino back in July. It was red and very cool. I was trying to figure out if the dents were accidental or part of the design, so I checked the other side out too.

I love watching enjoy one post up in this game!

Nice choices Johnny... I like where your head's at on the collector car, but Alfa Romeo's are Itallian! :P How about a sweet old Bugatti, they're French.

JonnydaJibba 2008-08-27 10:53 AM

Oh shit! Ok, gotta revise. That was my hardest one to figure out. I guess at this point it still is.

Dean 2008-08-27 11:02 AM

A couple people are cheating and only coming up with 4 of the 5. I can do that, but am having a tough time with getting 5 that I really like to work. The toughest one is to find a winter beater from the 70s not from The US,UK,Ger that I actually like or would even really work as a winter beater. :(

I think everyone's done all 5... just some pictures aren't showing up for all of them.

I also had the hardest time with the winter beater. All the cars I came up with that I'd really want were already excluded due to the country. In fact, I changed my track car 3 times because I needed to free up a country for the winter beater, and still ended up having to pick a '70's American car, which frankly is the worst decade for US car design.

Dean 2008-08-27 11:19 AM

You are right, I thought Sybir and Bob only had 4 of 5 just by counting pictures earlier.

Oh, I could pick a 80s or 90s winter beater easily, but it would mess up the rest of my list. I'm working on it though.

sybir 2008-08-27 11:45 AM

Dude, I even had alternates listed, how did you get 4?

If I stick with the Landcruiser in my first set, I could do another 5 without duplicating countries ;)

Winter: 80's-era (you figure out an exact year on a russian military vehicle) UAZ "jeep" outfitted for tundra duty:

http://www.hooptywagon.com/img/cars/...ie2%5b1%5d.jpg

Daily: 1962 Citroen DS wagon (France)

Collector: 1972 Lamborghini Miura 400 SV (Italy)

I could do a Jota, but they're a little more........vulgar.

Dean 2008-08-27 12:02 PM

Ha, got it and I even really like it and actually wanted one in my past...

Am I allowed to drive the track car on the street now and again? Pleeeeeaaaaassssseeeeee. :)

Winter beater: 1979 Subaru Brat [snow plow optional] (Japan)

Daily driver: 1994 Maserati Biturbo Spyder III 2.8 (Italy)

With the exception of Italian penned cars, I pretty much loathe cars from the 70's... so I needed to find another decade to draw from.

Not commenting on the R8 in general, as it's an awesome car, but that is both the ugliest "tuned" car and the worst photoshop I have *ever* seen from a professional manufacturer.

I call shenanigans. Even though this is your own challenge, I think picking a 2010 car that is not actually in production is cheating. :)

And your street and track cars have no images.

My 2008 R8 exists, just not in the color I wanted to post, so thus the photochopped version...

The real one is Black and I don't want a black one.

Well the 09 S5 looks almost exactly like the one Scott posted. It's not like there will be a break in production from until the actual ot ten comes out.

Yeah, but the RS5 is still unknown... it might have a Lambo V10 in it... Dean's got a point. Not that I'm changing my picks. :P

JonnydaJibba 2008-08-27 01:15 PM

Oh I didn't notice the R. That makes it infinitely more bad ass. I guess I should have realized it wasn't a regular S5 by the wheels. Maybe by the badge in the front grill.

While I love the look of black cars, THEY SUCK TO OWN! And THEY SUCK BIG LEAGUE Mule PENIS(keeping with a theme) AT THE TRACK which is the category it was in.

Having ridden and driven in a black Noble that was stored between run groups in a garage for only 20-30 minutes every hour and a half, I know! I have no idea why the pro drivers would even work for a company that painted their race cars black.

The other alternative was an orange one...

sperry 2008-08-27 10:25 PM

Except the R8 isn't a Noble. Just turn the A/C on and relax in the leather seats between sessions.

Actually, I've driven an Elise. It's a tight fit, but not impossible. I figure with a race seat, adjustable pedal box, and maybe a 4" extension into the firewall, I'm all set.
