Well a new addition to the reno subie scene is my 2008 lightning red STI that I got not too long ago. Thought I'd share. :)

Cool... Red & gold looks good. I like the palindrome plate on the white one.

What do you mean "for a while"? I thought this car was to leave alone as a DD since you have the other car. You remember that blue wrx?

You have to be kidding me. They swapped the gold wheels back on? lol. I was trying to buy the black wheels that thing was on for a buddy - it was on Prodrives, then swapped to black '08 stockers, then apparently back to Prodrives.

Car looks great!

I told them I wasn't buying the car without the Prodrives on there for the advertised price. Because they put the stockers back on, and kept the same price.. I even offered them $300 for the stockers and they wouldn't take it! Which was surprising..

Yeah, they were trying to get $500 for the stockers from me, which I would have paid (needed a set for a buddy to go back to stock)........but when I went in the next day they had mounted them on the car and were trying to sell me the Prodrives :lol:

Their loss. Nice car. My buddy just sold his red '08 (not the same car) :\

Saw a CS Bottom Line Carbon Fiber knock off kit on eBay while looking for '07 S203 lips. They do look bad ass!

Even the cheap ebay version is still expensive! the real kit is like $2k! No way in hell I could ever justify that!

Wasn't the eBay version like $400 or something? Can't remember, obviously didn't really care much as it wouldn't work on the '07. But I remember it being "not bad", and perfectly subtle looking.

I thought the carbon fiber one was around 1800 i think, but I thought they made one out of polyurethane that was cheaper too........ probably wrong like always, at least get a front lip

And to be honest, I think the red taillight lamin-x would look 100000000000000x better. Blend 'em in more.

the polyurethane was 1800.. the CF was $2000+.


Ehh everytime I see the red tails on the red car it doesnt look that good to me.. it looks like you cant really even see the tail lights because it blends too much. Plus im going with black and red color scheme. I'm eventually going to get them painted like my wrx tails, black with a redish tint mixed in. well.. I guess that would be smoking them. lol

And I'll get a front lip after the winter..

Bleah... just leave them clear. Red is the only color the clear lights look decent on. On everything else, I'd go with the red wrap.

"Smoking" the lenses is dumb IMO, if only because when some jack-hole rear-ends you, now it's no longer a slam-dunk with the insurance company because the guy at fault will claim "I couldn't see his brake lights because they're painted over" and now you've got a legal battle to win.

well if I dont decide to smoke them, then i'll do red.. The clear on the red still looked horrid IMO. I cant stand the altezza look of them. But to each their own I guess.

I've got red on red with my SVX and it just blends into the paint too much. Maybe on the STi it's not such an aesthetic problem, but on the SVX the rear-end is pretty dependent on having that long tail light across the back. Makes me wish there was some contrast back there on my car... but the only way to do that would be to repaint the car.

At least with the STi, you can leave the lights clear for some contrast... it's not my favorite, but it looks decent.

On my red Legacy, which is a different red than the STi, I put a tint film over my lights to cut down on the chrome altezza look. After a few months, I just took it off because it really started to annoy me. I also thought about a red film, but it looked worse IMO.

Granted, my paint color and taillight situation is different, but I thought I'd throw that out there.

At least the STi doesn't have the chrome bar that goes all the way across the rear hatch.

Honestly, just the site of that STI made me decide I'm sticking with black wheels. Winters on the Rotas, something new for summer.

I was wondering whose it was - but thought you'd have a California plate Kevin. What wheels/tires were you on at the time? Combo looks wide and aggressive, and sweet.

No Cali plates for me, I live in NV.

Same as my autox setup 17x8 RPF1's, but at that time I had 245 Starspecs, right now I have 245 RE01R's.
