I think it has something to do with the reflector, the reflector in the center must be more intense than the one on the outside, that currently has the brake light in it. I will look for more intense lights for the brakes/ look at the intensity during the day of my brakes.

EDIT, There wasn't a kit, I simply swapped the lights.

Dean 2008-10-10 06:19 AM

Did you swap just the cables, or the bulbs as well?

Having them swapped is likely illegal, or at least a reason to pull you over, just like having stock HIDs.

I swapped the cables and the bulbs. The piece that holds the bulbs fits into the taillight like a puzzle, there are five of them, and they all have the same piece, so they are interchangeable without having to cut or anything.

I did a similar thing with my tails a while back. I have the inner circle and the middle light on as driving lights and the brake is either all 3 lit up or the center and the outside. IIRC its easy to see when I am braking and there is also the 3rd brake light in the window.

Dewey 2008-10-10 08:59 AM

I have a window light and a wing light. But I think people tend to ignore those.

From my truck, both the wing and center window lights are plenty visible. And the brake lights on the corners for that matter... but I figured if it was night, they'd be easy to see if it was just a wiring swap. Since you said you swapped the bulbs, it's probably plenty bright in the day as well.

I just though the two inner lights as tail-lights seemed really bright. Certainly not as bright as some of the new cars w/ crazy bright LEDs, but brighter than normal.

Also, this answers the question as to why Gran Turismo got the brake lights "wrong" on the Imprezas in the game... apparently the JDM cars are in-side-out.

What a bunch of slackers... Just 4 of us tonight. Scotty, Silvio, DEBBIE!!! and I.

And Debbie had Hawaiian chocolate for Cory and since he wasn't there, we licked every third piece and put it back in the box and re-shrink wrapped it for him. :)

P.S. Scott, Silvio says you "Banned" him when you banned all the spammers. We told him to send you an email. I don't remember what his screen name was but his was one of the ones with no posts. That will teach him to lurk...

I still have class on Thursdays. :( After mid-December I'll be out there more often than not after that.

Of course on the rare occasion that I miss a meet, Debbie comes and brings me treats! DAMMIT!

Nick Koan 2008-10-31 07:27 AM

Oh damn, and I was probably supposed to come along and do something about those tire cables :|

They are sitting in the Tamarack parking lot in Cory's space. :)

Not... Next week...

Dewey 2008-11-01 07:33 AM

i became so side tracked that i completely spaced it... next time.

Dewey 2008-11-03 10:23 AM

So... I just remembered that there is a banquet for the Autocross season. Is that already over? When is/was it? I would like to go.

Bob Danger 2008-11-13 06:41 PM

I was told that I had to see if everyone would like like to change the meet location to Joe Bob's next Thursday, to honor the black mans birthday. So in typical Bob Danger fashion, I purpose we go to the Pneumatic Diner. That's a Vegan restaurant for those that don't get the joke.

cody 2008-11-13 09:36 PM

Vegetarian actually...and it's even less appealing since they raised their prices. It just so happens to be the closest restaurant to my work.

Dewey 2008-11-13 09:46 PM

Come on people, whats with all these lame turnouts? There were only six of us there tonight. Yes, it's more than the last couple of weeks, but still.
:?: :?: :?:

On a brighter note, we did get to meet a couple of guys that may want to join our club.

You think you're better than me?

It's winter, and what makes you think we want them?

Just kidding, new people are ever so much fun.

It's winter and there are a lot of folks busy trying to keep their jobs and save their money these days. I'm not all that surprised turn out it low, it's been weeks since I've been able to make a meet. Times are tough, and unfortunately hobbies tend to take a back seat.

It doesn't seem that much lower of a turn out than the normal winter season. Then again I haven't been to a meet in awhile, I'm broke.

Never mind, I concede.

Only Separatists go to meets. What did these couple of guys drive? Do you even remember their names. Probably just another drunken bout.:|

Dean 2008-11-14 06:35 AM

Hey New guys... Nice to meet you last night...

The group many of us autocross and go to the track with is the Reno SCCA Sports Car Club of America. Web site: RenoSCCA.org. Check it out. There is also a Yahoo Group you can join to get email updates on upcoming events. You might want to go on the upcoming "tour" on the 22nd which will visit 2 of the local race shops and do some "pace laps" out at Reno Fernley Raceway and eat some good food.

Info Here

Meet some more car folks, drive on a track and eat some good food FOR FREE!!! Can't beat that.
