Long time coming

After being on this forum for more than a decade and neither owning a Subaru nor living anywhere near the Sierras, I'm finally rectifying at least one of those. Placed an order for a '13 WRX hatch today, arriving off the slow boat (sometime) this summer.

:liljon:

"You've had this coming for a long time!"

What did you order? Options? Color?

Congrats!

ScottyS 2013-03-16 04:30 PM

Wow, really? Sweet.

k-dogg39 2013-03-16 04:30 PM

Very nice! Congrats!

 Inside joke ftw. It'll be a regular trim, WR blue - my only two baller options added on were the shorter throw shifter & all weather floormats.

Hahaha, congrats!

The floor mats are critical for ballin' out of control.

AtomicLabMonkey 2013-03-16 07:12 PM

My balls are always out of control.

Nick Koan 2013-03-16 10:03 PM

You are supposed to call your doctor if that happens for more than 4 hours.

AtomicLabMonkey 2013-06-06 02:25 PM

Got word from my dealer that my order got a VIN assigned and ETA is 8 July. Summer new car ftw.

Awesome!

...though this is a "long time coming". I wouldn't have thought it would have taken so long from ordering it to receiving it.

Yeah it's nuts. Their production capacity for the impreza seems to be far under the demand, so 3-4mo lead time is the norm now. I read they're going to start up production in a US plant soon, in Indiana I think.

Indiana is where all the N. American sold Outbacks and Legacies are currently built. Considering the recent Imprezas are more Legacy than Impreza these days, it makes sense to build them on the same production line I guess.

MattR 2013-06-07 04:08 PM

I was just reading that they are falling behind demand on the new Forester as well. I suppose that is a good problem, but they need to adjust or risk losing sales.

AtomicLabMonkey 2013-06-08 08:16 AM

It sounds like it already has impacted them - I read sales of Imprezas have actually started falling a bit because there aren't any on dealer lots. Most people don't get interested in something they can't see. Meanwhile down at the GM dealer there's a dozen of every model in every color..

Yes.

6 miles! Awesome, congrats!

Dean 2013-06-29 07:08 PM

Sweet!

Nick Koan 2013-06-29 07:16 PM

Sweet. How did you pull off sequential license plates?

AtomicLabMonkey 2013-06-29 08:00 PM

Just how it happened since we registered both cars at once when we moved up here. In WI your plate stays with you and not the vehicle, so we took it off the old car today and put it on the new car.

Put about 50mi on it just driving around the area today. I love this car, it's so nice compared with the Heep that I don't even care that I have to break it in gently. I'm happy to just tool around.

MattR 2013-06-29 08:22 PM

Congrats Austin, looks awesome

Dean 2013-06-29 08:51 PM

I would suggest against breaking in gently...

Rings don't seat right with gentle IMHO.

Crappy phone pic from my drive around the lake today. I. Love. This. Car.

Maybe it's just cause I've had 90's vintage cars for so long, but even small stuff like streaming music from my phone over the Bluetooth (or.. cruise control, working A/C, and good ride quality) makes it frigging perfect to me.
