Bought a new car!

Well, new to me anyway!

Since I told a few of you guys about it at Auto-x over the weekend, I figured I would post it up

1987 Audi 4000 CS Quattro. 230K, just about everything on it works, except the rear windows and a couple door handles.

Here are some crappy iphone pics:

Man, where did you find that thing?!

What motor is in that? Something like a 2.5L inline-5?

Some guy in Truckee had it on craigslist.

It has a 2.22L Inline-5.

Such an amazing score for a beater/rallyX car. I'm jealous.

Nice! Congrats.

I had an earlier 4000Q that I loved.

Does it have the manual locking diffs via knob in the center console? That was the best feature ever for the snow. Locked center and rear you could go anywhere as long as you did not high center since at least 3 wheels had to be turning!

Best ever was after a huge snow at Kirkwood, everyone else was digging out the 10+ feet of snow pressed in on the top/sides of their cars. I cleared most from the back and dug out the driver door and hopped in, locked the diffs and blasted out. Shoved the snow off the hood roof and trunk and drove away!

 Nice! Yes it does have the manual locking diffs in the bottom of the center console. I thought that would come in handy. ;)

JC 2011-05-05 12:57 PM

Awesome. My parents has a 5000CS Quattro 5spd when I was growing up. That car had crazy turbo lag but I still thought it was a blast.

He has an old Audi, I'm sure he's too busy fixing his car to get on the board. :p

nelshaun 2011-05-09 07:19 PM

Looks nice but I think you have to change the paint and upgrade some of the parts.

Awesome looking truck!! Nothing like "Non-interference engines" ;)

AtomicLabMonkey 2011-05-10 02:56 PM

 I had an 82 Audi 4000 as my first car, in high school. It had a whopping 74hp, but at least it was a stick. Damn that thing was slow.

k-dogg39 2011-11-03 04:52 PM

Well just a quick update. I sold the Audi to a friend of mine that has wanted it since I picked it up (he was actually there when I bought it). Hopefully we will still see it at rally-x next year. Got a different winter ride. Another Suby! A 2000 BRP RS Sedan. A lot of miles, but seems to be in decent shape. The only other :| is that it is auto, but that will work for my commute through chain control everyday for work during the winter. Here are a few pics from the trip back, we did a quick overnight camp in Yosemite.

Nice!! Mind if I ask how much(you can PM me)? My little sister is going to be looking for a reliable ride and I am going to try and push subaru. I think that^ would be a great first car. Maybe too nice.

Dean 2011-11-03 07:46 PM

Sweet. Just don't let Kevin M anywhere near it, he attracts death to RSes, especially blue ones.

We were just talking about the autos being better in the snow anyway at dinner.
