Free Tax Software sources

It's getting to be that time of the year again, and I've used these guys for the past two years now, and it looks like their deal is even better this year...

The FREE Standard version now includes free e-file...

http://www.taxact.com/

Ther was also a free copy of H&R TaxCut in the last PC Magazine, but they want money for e-file.

I'm a turbo tax online user... plus once you start using it for your taxes, it automatically remembers your data from last year so it can pre-populate the answers to questions about your last return.

Yeah it's nice if you remember which one you used. I didn't notate which I used last year. I remember using HR taxcut but it seems I used it in 2003 not 2004, doh! Now I have to have my 2004 transcrpit mailed to me to get my AGI, mother of god.

Everybody pretty much imports your data from last year, including the two I listed.

I used to use TurboTax, but they wanted to much money for it one year and I went looking for alternatives. Is TurboTax free now?

HR taxcut is free.

There are usually crazy discounts you can stack on each other till it's nearly free.

'Course I figure, if I'm paying the federal government $2200, I can afford the $15 or so for using the tax software.
