Anyone know the history of this...

Just came across this in my daily CL searchings:

http://reno.craigslist.org/cto/2705724656.html

If it checks out, I might be back in the Suby scene...

Blown Turbo at 85K is a bit scary.

Depends on how blown it is.

Compression/leak down test is a must!

WRX06TR 2011-11-17 12:58 PM

Agreed on compression and leakdown test.

My car blew the turbo at 7X,XXX and I found the exhaust wheel in the downpipe. Definitely worth looking at everything.

My thoughts exactly...

Wasn't sure if anyone knew about this particular car locally.

This car was for sale a while ago needing a new short block or something, I am assuming that got replaced I remember the ad saying something like they didn't have the money to get it fixed. It sat at a shop in Incline for quite a while.

100_Percent_Juice 2011-11-17 05:38 PM

Is anyone going to mention the curse?

A1337STI 2011-11-17 05:42 PM

If it has a rebuilt motor (and low mile replacement turbo) that looks like a great deal!

norbeaster 2011-11-18 01:55 PM

Thanks guys!
I'm gonna go look at it tonight and do a compression test on the motor. Anything else I should look into for a suspected hammered-on STI w/85k?

...first thing that has to go on that car is the incredibly ugly wing, who does that?

GusGus91 2011-11-19 02:35 AM

So how'd the car check out?

I will take it off your hands.... I like it. If I had 9k I would buy this thing.

That's an RA-R wing, lol. I'm sure it's a rep, bu it fits the lines of the car and looks better than the big wings, IMO.

Remember that if a turbo has been going for a while, it can kick not-so-fun bits back into the shared oil supply; smoked turbos can smoke bottom ends if you don't address them quickly.

It's a a wing from a Japanese special variant STi. They are more hardcore track cars that are lighter and more powerful, and aren't offered here in the states. They are denoted by an S and a 202, 203, or 204. I can't tell form the picture but it looks like an S204 or S203 wing.

I think it's s204. I would kill for the badges and seats of the s204. Last time and only time I have seen s204 interior for sale it went for around 10k.

I had to edit just to point out the rear glass and wiper in that picture. I really want!!

WRX06TR 2011-11-19 10:46 AM

I know! The JDM market gets so many cool options. The interior in the S204 is phenomenal, it sucks that the Evo gets Recaro's here in the states and the STi gets shafted. I'd love a set of these...

Well shitt... I guess that wing works in it's right place, that s204 is pretty.
I'm not a wing guy at all but I do have a stock WRX wing in my garage that I will use if this joker calls me back. I'm not gonna shave it so OE is better in my opinion.

I called yesterday and the guy still had it but was working and told me I would get a call back at 7... still no reply.
I hate when I get ammped on something and it falls through the cracks.

And he has the gall to tell people not to waste his time in his Craigslist ad? What a douche.

Dean 2011-11-19 10:34 PM

Can you tell what the cause for the rebuild was? Depending on the answer to that, it may still probably worth $8-9K.

Still a good deal with rebuiLt title but it would have been nice to know. It seems like they total everything out these days so it could have been a not such a bad wreck. Or it could have got hammered an never be the same. Do research!
