Scott'ys Cocktail
Has anybody tried "Scott'ys Cocktail" in their Suby transmission? I am thinking about trying it in my 02 wrx for the first time. Does anyone know of a local vendor that sells the products? Sorry, I am new to Reno.
Thanks for all the help, Scott |
Straight up RedLine Lightweight Shockproof gear oil is just as good, and way less hassle than mixing up a concoction.
I did the cocktail back in 2002 or so. When I switched to straight Shockproof, I couldn't tell the difference. No matter what, getting into 1st requires a double-clutch rev-match or patience and proper pressure on the synchros to let them work. It's the nature of the gearbox more than the nature of the fluid. |
^Agreed. Had the cocktail, switched to Lightweight Shockproof and I can't tell the difference.
Just don't get caught granny shifting and not double clutching like you should. |
I ran the cocktail about 5 years ago and then started reading a lot of negative reviews on Nasioc. It seemed like it was okay for the first 10K miles or so, but then shifting became more difficult so now I just run RL SP LW like everyone else. They sell it at Summit Racing in town. I also tried Motul Gear 300 or whatever it's called and it was too slippery.
