Opinions: 86 BMW 325 2-door?

Okay, I recently ran up on a good condition, high mileage 325 here in town, its a 5 speed and in very good shape in and out (minus some paint fade and spidering). Im thinking about picking it up as a daily driver/weekend toy until I can afford something newer and then turn it into a track whore.... what do you guys think? it has 200k on it, but you cant go wrong for $1200.

As long as you budget (read: save) about $350 a month for repair bills. It'll destroy you in maintenance once you find out how many parts are dealer only. I could have had an '87 325i for $700 with good tags, but passed for that reason.

Well, the E30 M3's are known to run owners around $1000/mo if you plan on driving them hard and keeping them in good condition.
