O M G...

They turned this:

http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/fe...red27_zoom.jpg
Curb Weight: 2,762 lbs
1/4 Mile:16.3 @ 84.0 mph
60-foot:2.9 sec.
0-60 mph:8.6 sec.

into this:
http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/fe...red20_zoom.jpg
Curb Weight:1,674 lbs
1/4 Mile:14.3 @ 93.2 mph
60-foot:2.6 sec.
0-60 mph:5.8 sec.

And only gained 2 seconds in the 1/4 mile. But they claimed it was "free", nevermind the total loss of resale value... I'd say that "mod" cost them about $10,000. For $10k they could have pulled off the body kit and installed an SR20DET and gone faster in a cool car.

I'm reducing weight on the Ghia, This seemed like a possibility. I bet I could hit 1200 lbs.

You know, we could probably pick up Debbie's wagon cheap and do this to it... I'd leave the whole B Piller cross over for a roll bar though. E Mod car?

That thing's gotta be as flexible as a wet noodle.. even with a 6-pt. bar it probably still wouldn't be great.

I think you could leave the roof structure while stripping the sheetmetal skin. I'd also weld the lower door skins on with a welded in brace at the window sil level.

How much do you think they would sell Debbies engine for? I've been thinking of putting one in the Ghia.

Then you'd have a 230-330hp 2700 lb D-Mod car... up against 200hp 1000 lb D-Mod cars, assuming anyone else runs D-Mod in Reno.
