Dealer Question

So, I will be visiting Reno/Carson next month and thought, why not get the Forster in NV while I'm there, instead of waiting until I get back?

So which dealer would you go to, or not,

Michael Hohl Subaru,
South Shore Motors,
Lithia Reno Subaru,

and why, or why not?

I have requested guotes from the three so I can start a bidding war.

KBB.com lists the Forester XT Premium w/Spoiler as the only option at
$28,731 Retail
$27,116 New car Blue Book
$26,073 Invoice

I'd be happy with $28,000 out the door.

Thanks,

Eric

two things...do you really want the forester?....its super nice i have to admit with plenty of power and everything....but you could get a wrx for 3 grand less....but if you need the extra storage and stuff then the forester is the way to go.

lithia will have the car....carson may not...they are pretty limited on what they have in stock. lithia charges a whole crap load of dealer mark up, but if you have CASH, they will be willing to negociate...depending on what options you want you may be able to get it for 28000 out the door as you wish. i am going to lithia tomorrow to see how much a service manual for a wrx is so ill ask them what they want....or at least look at the sticker...ill let you know.

I have an 02 WRX with Visnu Stage 1. I love it and it pains me to think of selling it, but I an tired of the profiling the LAPD and CHP does towards WRXs. (four tickets, three won because they were bogus, one was legit)

Say Ryan, did you already ask in the club if anybody's already got a shop manual? (Check with us on Thursday.)

Oh yeah, Eric,
Tax in Carson City is 7%, in Reno it's 7.325% (I think) - and I don't know in So. Shore, but I thought CA. tax was higher. So factor that into your bids too.

If Carson Subaru has one, I would definatly pick it up there. They have been super nice to me everytime I have gone down for a warrenty issue. Lithia has messed so much up with me (including my paint) that I don't want to go back there.

Yeah, but sales & service are 2 different departments. Art, did you talk to Bill about your service?

as for the service manual....the thing is i need a 04 wrx service manual.....im sure its pretty close to the 02-03....but i am finding out that a lot of stupid things are not the same.....i am just going to see how badly they are going to rip me off for one.....i probably wont get it....

It's usually around $300 online. Lithia will probably charge you closer to $600 for it if they'll even sell 'em. Try ordering one from elsewhere. I believe you can get one from www.subaruparts.com for a decent price.

As far as dealers. Carson (Hohl) > Lithia, but they both suck because they're dealers. :monkey: (Search for my posts on warranty work if you'd like more information)

Debbie has a point...Lithia's sales people are generally pretty damn cool along with Randy the GM. But Lithia's service is the ultimate crap. Carson is much better (although still not the best).

I just got a wrx from Subaru in Reno. Rod the internet guy worked with me and got a good deal. Only problem was before we closed the deal they tried play more games with the price. Carson Subaru has some good people there. Some are not though. The Internet manager seems ok, but he gave me a quote for "theft registration" but it was really the security option.

ryan4601 2004-04-14 11:46 AM

ok here is the scoop from lithia reno. they have only 2 forester turbos on lot right now, and they are both gold. the only problem is they are asking for nearly 30000(29650 to be exact). i think it may be hard to get them down to 28000 out the door. i mean you can walk in and make a deal, but for them to budge 1650$ is a big stretch. also the two they have are pretty basic models....no leather or anything. they claim that they will beat carsons price by alot, so if you have the time i would drive to carson and see if they have one....if they do, make an offer and see what they are willing to sell you the car for. after that take that quote to lithia and see what they will do. i can drive out to carson today and check it out for you if you want....you also wont get a good quote on the phone...they will just pull your chain..........are you sure we cant talk you into buying a wrx?...they had a whole lot of those, and you would pay 3000 less about....you can even get a wagon if you want the space.....but if you want the space and more power then the forester is the way to go....let me know if you want me to head over to carson...i dont have anything to do this afternoon.

about the service departments....yea they both suck pretty much....but if you dont modify your car(i mean not at all)....im sure you wont have too many problems with warrenty claims....
