I'm still using the same one I got back in 1996. Never lets me down. Optimas rule.

I think I may need to pick up one of these... I'm having power issues in my car now that I got my headlights set up. With my highs and driving beams on (55w x 4 + 100w x 2 = 420w of headlights) my voltage drains with the car running!! I think I've killed the battery with all my stereo playing whil I work on the car. I've got a DC inverter so I can charge the battery in my garage, but I think it prematurely wore the battery out...

Either that, or my alternator is bad... it's not underdriven so much that my headlights would drain the battery...

Which Optima are you guys using, and where'd you pick one up from?

I'm using the 800U (lower right in the picture), but the terminals are reversed so you have to stretch the cables to reach. I'm pretty sure they make one with the right terminals for our cars though. I got mine when I first started working at Kragen in 96. Someone turned it in for a core, so I threw it on the charger and it worked fine after that. And the best part is I paid $8 for it (the price of a battery core). We sell them at NAPA, I think they are around $130 or so.

I used Optimas in my "Jeep Days" I even used some massive Marine spec (blue top) for a while. I love optimas, I want to put one in the Rex soon.

I picked up one from Pep Boys yesterday. I had to hook up a 0 gauge extension to reach the positive terminal.

It looks like I've got much more stable power, but I think my alternator isn't putting out enough juice to run all my headlights... I wonder if I damaged the alternator washing out my engine, or if the underdrive pulley is just too much... Perhaps I need to go back to the stock pulley... or try to find an overdrive alternator pulley to speed it back up... or perhaps get a high-power alternator and leave it underdriven.... ugh...

Oh, check out what was in the Pep-Boys parking lot: Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V, totally tricked out... Actually it's a little over the top, but it's legit. I talked to the owner briefly, he got it sponsord for the body kit so he's got all kinds of prototype shit on there.

another cool thing for you evan is that you re-set your ECU, if you let the car sit without a battery for long enough, i bet your car was running pretty good after the install, b4 the ECU "learns" your exhaust system and tunes it down a little, at least that's what i've read on other boards.

I just got a 8 inch battery cable while I was at pep boys. That got me home. Then I cut it and put a eye connector on the end so I could attach it to the stock stuff.
