Autocross #10 & #11 - July 10 & 11

Street tires & STS/STX/STU run in the morning both Saturday & Sunday = opportunity for Run No Points in the afterrnoons. Seat time!

In another thread there was an idea for an afternoon challenge. My SCCA Speed GT windshield banner is still up for grabs; any other ideas?

sperry 2004-07-08 08:18 AM

Oh sure... have a window banner challenge when Tyson and I will be gone. :P

..not that I've got any room for another window banner.

zpeed 2004-07-08 09:01 AM

RNP only in the afternoon? How much is it? How late they usually run?

dknv 2004-07-08 10:17 AM

RNP can be done in the morning too, if you are not concerned about class points.

I believe we talked about this idea at least a week ago -- before you guys made your current plans. :P

Debbie

I didn;t sign up at Myautoevents this time, because my new class is not listed. I'm going to be running NESP now, and it's not listed. Any suggestions?

Wait till morning of?

Pretty sweet that you can move from stock to street prepared and end up with a better PAX factor!

NAS= .802
NESP= .798

Sweet huh? I wish I had discovered it sooner, but oh well, I can also make mods to my car, and still go down in PAX 8)

AtomicLabMonkey 2004-07-08 12:46 PM

That car should not be allowed in ESP.

dknv 2004-07-08 12:50 PM

Matt,
When MAE comes back I'll have a look at the class listings.

Yeah, NESP, pretty clever.

I tell you what Matt... your car vs. Austin's would be a great battle. IIRC the only think illegal in ESP on Austin's car are the sub frame connectors (just 'cause they're welded not bolted) and the coilovers (which would be legal if only Ford would have designed the Mustang with a modern suspension to begin with).

I bet Austin would beat you, but it'd be close!

Dammit, Austin, you need to drag your ass up here for an event before the season's over!

We could always co-drive your car together, while you watched from the pits. We both seem pretty "comfortable"in it.

My autocrossing has been pretty much non-existant since we got down here due to work & family obligations. I've been on the road for the last ~2 months straight, including this one... we're packing up for Willow Springs right now. After this it's time for a frigging break. I think the next auto-x I'm planning to hit is Atwater for an AAX event sometime in August... that's as far ahead as I can think right now.

great Sig Austin...

So true...

Watch out, the OT post Nazi is around... :D Better get this back on-topic...

I plan on driving very well this weekend at the autocross...

Whew, just in time...

Naw, I don't care about this thread... just the important ones, like the ones for events I *will* be attending.

dknv 2004-07-10 04:34 PM

Fun! 2 laps, enduro-style. You really had to stay focused to run it right.

Too bad our afternoon RNP's didn't count, I can't wait to see the scoring to see how much better it was.

MattR 2004-07-10 05:56 PM

OMG! I had a blast on that course, it was one of my fvorites so far this year. yeah Deb, I wish I could've put down my best RNP time in the morning... :x I would have probably paxed in the top 5...Oh well, we shall see tommorrow...

On a side note, Looks like I won street tire today...even though I'm under protest for having the STI in NESP  Too bad I did my homework, that's not gonna get "them" anywhere...

dknv 2004-07-10 09:18 PM

Yeah Matt - you ran awesome this afternoon!! And so did Pat R!

I thought I did awesome by taking off 2.5 seconds from the morning runs. That was until I learned I had a cone on every run.

MikeK 2004-07-11 06:37 PM

Sunday == best course evAr. The high speed sweeping turns off the start and the long straights into each slalom were great. I had a great time racing today, especially when I managed to finally crack 50 secs on the last rnp run in the afternoon ... now I am only 2.5 seconds behind you guys

MattR 2004-07-11 07:02 PM

Agreed, today's course was another winner, I loved both courses this weekend. Too bad I feel I drove poorly today, I just could not squeeze out the times needed. Need more practice! I feel it was all mental errors, the car felt great, although I was at the top of 2nd and bottom of 3rd a lot ( ) I feel I was losing time grabbing 3rd in spots.

Mike,I was impressed with your runs this afternoon, you are really starting to push that car hard...it's awesome to see..
