WRX's are awesome

Just thought I'd share.

I got a chance to run my car over Sonora Pass on two trips to visit relatives that live in the Twain Harte area. If you haven't had the opportunity to drive this route, it is WRX heaven.

I couldn't believe the power and handling of this machine. The new tires and wheels are awesome. Thanks to all of you that helped me select the right rubber etc. I always appreciate the advice and help everyone is happy to offer.

Here are a few pics.

That road rulz! I have driven it several times, but mostly in a semi-truck which sucked very bad.

Another interesting highway (to get airborne on) is the Benton-Lee Vining road near Mono Lake. If you have a few extra minutes to kill on a trip south on 395 to Bishop or past its a worthwhile detour......

If that's the road that heads out to Hawthorne, then yes, that is crazy...good stuff.

Sonara Pass is one of my favorite roads I've experience yet. The STi is sooo fun at all of those super tight turns, even with four people in the car it didn't seece to impress. On my way back through I even hit a turn/hill that pushed my body way down in the seat. Like a rollercoaster. :D Yeah negative G's.

G's that push you into the seat are positive... negative G's would lift you out of the seat and into the belts... and realmuthafuckin' G's look like this:

Ha --- the Hawthorne highway goes straight forever...the place to check top speed, as long as you don't catch the extremely soft shoulder (my CHP friend in Lee Vining takes single-vehicle rollover accidents out there often). Actually, I was thinking of the Benton-Mono Hwy on this map (low traffic, quite a few curves, and some scary rollers if you're not familiar with it):

 laughed a little too hard at that picture. various co-workers are looking at me funny.

Silly me for mixing up my G's thanks for straightening that out for me.
Its negative G's and OG's that I don't like.

Sperry! Nice work on the G pic!

Scotty, I forgot about that one...That road is nutty. How was it a good idea to put jump in the highway  Thanks for the map...

Another cool route that is close by is our of South Shore towards Markleeville. Especially when all the aspen start to turn.

I do this every year.
