$10,000 Engine Budget what to do?
OK. So Super Street is having a contest in which you are given $10,000 to do and extreme engine makeover(I know). You need to buy some 104+ Import Performance Boost from Gold Eagle and include the original dated receipt. While jumping on the TLC bandwagon is annoying I will enter this contest with the hopes of winning $10,000 to spend on my engine. Oh kayyyy.
So I thought maybe you guys could throw out some ideas: Forged Internals (I have no idea what kind) V mount radiator/intercooler deal (I figured it’s in the WRC car right) Giagantoor Turbo? I’m probably going to try to be funny in the letter. I’m probably not going to win. I’m probably going to do something with the suspension before I ever do anything with the engine. http://www.superstreetonline.com/ 104 boost stuff |
p i m p my engine.
If nothing at least it's somthing to think about if you are bored. |
Man, I really don't know how to spend $10k on an engine. Even I haven't managed to do that. :P
|
I could do it easily, 2x over...
Rigioli swap :D Of course the whole having a car issue... Althought, the 78 could use a new engine :D |
I've seen stranger things than a '78 with a crazy motor.....

You're gonna put a 350Z twin turbo in your STI?
*ducks* I don't know how I'd spend that, though I'd find a way...:) |

You guys know about Axis power racing? Thats awesome.
I say you get a better transmition, rods, pistons, the best fuel managment system you can afford, 660cc injectors, 255plh fuel pump, and of course, The Green |

Here :P |
Hey Tyson... what's the cost of installation for all that? I think you blew your budget by about $3000.

Seriously though your right, It's really easy to blow 10,000! |
Nice list tyson!
I would add either JDM STi heads ($1800 used?) or some other kind of head work. |

Because there are a lot parts that are not inclusive. |
You're going to need a better transmition. You'll distroy yours in a sec if you get the green. You can easily get near 400whp with the green with a proper tune/mod support.

Man I'd go nuts with a 10k budget for and engine..and I'd use it all up.
|
$10k really isn't that much. I guess it's a lot for building up a stock motor w/ bolt-ons... but if you really want to build a motor... that $10k would be gone before you even get to the bolt-ons!
Forged internals + cams + trick heads + port/polish + blueprinting + overboring + labor for all that, and you're damn near out of money. Never mind all the custom intake/intercooler/headers/exhaust, electronics, fuel delivery, turbo(s), dyno tuning... I could spend $30k in a week, and still be only just getting started. |
