Well, it's official

I am hired at JCPenney's catalog distribution warehouse. Apparently I schooled everybody else that took the skills/placement tests this morning, because they offered me my choice of like 8 positions. :D I'll be working as a BRC (whatever that is, the job description was kinda vague) but it starts at $9.44, and the shift was 10-6:30, can't beat that. Funny part is, I go back in for an "interview" even though I've already been offered the position, then next tuesday I do all the paperwork and eye exam/drug testing jazz.

Time to bust out a newly-appropo sig from GPB...

Nick Koan 2004-09-14 12:55 PM

Congrats dude. Hopefully I'll be able to make a similar post soon too.

Umm, go down to JCPenney and apply. You'll get hired. Basically, they screen out felons and drug users, and then if you are only slightly mentally deficient you get hired. :)

Congrats!!!

MikeK 2004-09-14 01:25 PM

It's a temporary position, but they always keep the best (read: punctual, dependable) employees after holiday layoffs. I won't get into any financial commitments between now and christmas, but I'm pretty sure I'll be sticking around.

Actually, I need a new daily driver first. If a '93-'01 Impreza wagon with clean, straight body, nice interior, and working drivetrain doesn't fall into my lap by january I will probably go get an '05 RS wagon, and then worry about the swap.

AtomicLabMonkey 2004-09-14 01:34 PM

Congrats!

sperry 2004-09-14 01:36 PM

Congrats Kevin!

BTW: I thought the RS wagon was called the TS... did they scrap that name for the '04+ wagons or something?

And Nick, I have some IGT news for you... pm pending.

There's one over by the Hilton that looks pretty good.

Congrats on the job.

I'm almost certain that the name was switched for the MY05 from TS to RS Wagon. I'm pretty sure the MY04 are still TS, but I'm not 100% sure.

As for the second part, w00t (I hope).

Yep, they did away with TS. OBS are still around though. I think the RS is cheaper though, so...

I wonder if you might be able to find a new '04 TS on a lot if you look around, think there's any left this late? Now that would be the way to buy a new daily driver!

Can't do it til December/January when I find out if I will be kept on. Technically I'm a seasonal hire, although i doubt I'll get laid off.

Gorio 2004-09-14 02:13 PM

Congrats!

tysonK 2004-09-14 08:29 PM

Well I guess I should probably make a post here since I have been working there for over 6 years.

Kevin is partly right in assuming that the "good" workers will be kept for the long haul. IF you are lucky people above you will quit and you will find a almost permanent position kind of like I have. We just had some one quit today so that helps you out quite a bit.

There is a 95% chance that I WILL BE TRAINING KEVIN.

I am BRC!

If all goes well Kevin will be making $15.64 in 8 months!

Kevin M 2004-09-14 08:32 PM

Rawk. :)

Oh and when you go to your interview don't say you know me. I don't want them to assign you some other trainer b/c they think we might(read will) goof around.

I'm serious.

And I say you trolling the parking lot this morning looking for a space!

Kevin M 2004-09-14 08:44 PM

Yeah, I didn't mention it. If they ask why I applied I'll just say a friend told me they were hiring. Nothing about working there.
