Not sure this will cheer you up, but how did that traffic ticket for the trailer thingy end up? Your mentioning LA made me think of it...

MattR 2004-12-21 03:53 PM

It's not resolved yet, but I have the CHP involved now, (ON MY SIDE! ) believe it or not...I hope to have it resolved soon.

I'm with you dude. This holiday season is no good. I really want to avoid the family and leave town for the weekend.

sperry 2004-12-21 04:14 PM

I've pretty much hated the comercial aspect of x-mas for the last 10-15 years or so... basically since I've been old enough to have to shop for gifts for others. :x

I really enjoy spending time w/ my extended family over the holidays, but it's basically Thanksgiving Part II... but there are better football games on during T-Day, and the weather's usually a bit better. So x-mas doesn't really add anything over Thanksgiving except for more stress and more stupid people ringing bells begging for my charity.

Not to mention the zerg rush at all the shopping malls

That's too bad. :( Maybe it's because you missed the Charlie Brown Christmas special. That Always gets me in the mood. :D

For me, it helps to have others to share the holidays with. Also, creating an atmosphere of Christmas around me. Putting up a Christmas tree, setting up a manger scene. Making fudge, drinking eggnog, sending cards, buying gifts for others, wrapping them (yeah, like at 1:30am on Christmas morning and then sneaking them under the tree - only to be woken up at 5:30 am to open them, ).

Should we put together a Christmas dinner? Or a day-after-Christmas snowmobiling trip?

That sounds nice. I was going to suggest hitting the bar christmas day, but your idea probably a lot better.

murphy 2004-12-21 05:02 PM

x-mas always kind of sucked for me...spent too many by myself hundreds or thousands of miles away...or someone else in the family was gone..this time of year hasn't ment much of shit since I was about 9 or 10 y.o.. X-mas and T-day pretty much get on my nerves and really irritate me.

Nick Koan 2004-12-21 06:03 PM

For me, it's not that I'm in a Bah-humbug mood, its more that "Holy Crap, its already christmas and I didn't even realize it"

And then the added stress of finding appropiate gifts. I like giving thoughtful gifts, but if I remember too late, then I'm just boned. I'd rather give better gifts randomly throughout the year, rather then mediocre gifts specifically this weekend.

I was talking with my sister about this too. I wonder if that means she didn't get me anything good this year

We're going out east to Sierra Summit for some bed&breakfast lodging and skiing. I had to fix my Jeep first though. The thermostat on the damn thing was stuck open so it wasn't warming up in cold weather.. so I replaced it, put it all back together, and the t-stat housing started leaking. :x Did this process two separate times.. couldn't figure out why, I scraped all the surfaces off, used new gaskets, plenty of RTV, etc... took it apart one more time and realized the cast alum. housing itself was now cracked. Which meant replacing the hoses attached to it too since they were old and mashed up. So, replaced that stuff and now it works fine. Looks like there will be a Christmas after all!

Yeah, I think I like Thanksgiving better now overall.. lower stress and no gift shopping. And I'd like to be able to go to the g-damn grocery store once during the month of December without being assaulted by people wanting money.

This is what I really hate about the holidays. People who get upset and throw guilt if you don't come to see them are just assholes. God forbid you take a wiser view of life and be thankful for the time you *do* get to spend with family around the year, rather than getting upset anytime they're *not* there. I haven't had any experience with this, or anything...

I'm converting to Alvism.

And on this frosty winter's night, young Delia's water broke, almost freezing her to the seat of the wagon. And the pioneer's beseeched the soldiers to grant them entrance, so that she could give birth to her child in the hospital there. But, due to an outbreak of syphilis among the soldiers, the hospital was full. And So there in the the stable among the feed and the tack the yuh uh whatsis, Delia gave birth to a son, whom she called Alvis as was her wont. And since none of the men in the party were the father, it was decided among them that the birth of this child must truly be a miracle!

And it was so... for above the fort, there suddenly and miraculously appeared an awesome and mighty comet! And so brilliant was its light, that there came from all the tribes, (which the soldiers had not yet decimated), shamans! And they rode upon Buffalo, as was their heathen custom, bearing gifts - offerings of whiskey and firearms. and when the shamans saw the child they were in awe... for he glowed as if bathed in a light which was truly not of this world.

If most religions think Alvis' love of liquor and guns and revenge is creepy, then maybe most religions can hash it out in Hell for all eternity! Alvis'll smoke those bitches!

The true meaning of Alvistime is neither ham nor pomp. nay, It's drinkin, drinkin and revenge.

for those who say "oh yes what do I know? my religion is only 5000 years old." We Alvians say 5000 years.. eh... of stupid!

Alvians get wasted at Alvistime stop oppressing us!

Well that's worth something. :o But not quite worth being a convert. :D

Now, I suppose I've justified a stoning...l.l
