Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale..
I think I'm gonna head down to Scottsdale and warm up a little, go to some nice resteraunts, have some drinks, bump into some rich assholes...sounds nice doesn't it...
I've been wanting to check this deal out for a while now, the rediculous amount of money spent has me intrigued... http://www.barrett-jackson.com/ |
Nice, when are you thinking of going?

So, Barret-Jackson is friggin nuts...I have never seen anything like that...People were spending unbelievable  amounts of money, from all over the world...
I saw a 1954 Oldsmobile F-88 Concept car go for $3 Million!!!! OMG!!! Biggest sale in the history of the auction... Anyway, Arizona is nice, I had rain yesterday, but today is great...I just got back from the Nissan Dealership  and now I'm heading to the airport in a while.. I took some pictures at the auction, but my damn camera crapped out about an hour after I got there...Oh well, you've seen one old-ass car, you've seen them all , right? See ya laters. |
Ha nice.
3 million could buy a lot of STi parts. |

Think of it this way: if this car had gone into production, we'd be watching the Olds F-88-R race in ALMS GTS competition. Also, it doesn't hurt that this is the only 1 of 4 that survived. http://www.barrett-jackson.com/event....asp?id=178112 |
That still doesn't justify $3M for a 51 year old Oldsmobile to me. Some people have a hell of a lot more money than brains...

In my eyes it was a good buy :D he has full history and "blueprints"
I still wouldn't buy a car not to drive it thou, so 3 million and you cant take it for a spin  the guy who bought it probly has marble/granite garage floors and 1 way glass so he can look at it from his bedroom |

And you have to remember, that car's from an era before the Oldsmobile marque was synonymous with "old people". Back in '54, Olds was just as "hip" as Chevrolet, Ponitac, etc. Back then the different branches of GM were essentially just different cars... it wasn't till the early 50's that they started making a few cars per branch. |

The car will only go up in value...That's the way it works with collector circuits...It will always be the "2005 $3M Olds!"...Probably a good investment... I saw the car up close in the special tent, and it was actually really impressive, way cooler looking than early 50's Vettes.
The guy that bought it is part of a car museum in Colorado, he bought a bunch of cars this weekend...You could see him dressed in Red Ferrari logo clothing all weekend  Funny thing is, the guy that sold the F-88 Olds sat at the table across form me at dinner Saturday night...Looked like he was having a really good time!...I imagine if I had just sold a car for $3M, I'd be having a swell time... Anyway. |

http://www.globemegawheels.com/news/...9/classic.html I'm also sick of seeing all the auction retardation on Speed channel every time I flip it on. I swear that channel is worthless now... |

That article is no joke, people are out of control...It is definately more of a circus environment than an important trader show.. "Auction goers are off their blocks Renowned Barrett-Jackson Auction has become a three-ring circus" However, I still had a good time there..It was fun to experience. |
