Help with install

Hey guys, I just ordered my Helix uppipe. Anyone want to help me install it when it comes in?

Pizza and beer

Bump (for Robin - is that right?)

Didn't you have an Audi or something else last year? And now you've got a WRX?

I think the lack of people wanting to help is an indication that the install will not be easy. If I had ever done one I would atleast supervise, but I havent :(

maybe you should change the post to say: "I need help with the overseeing the install" :?

all I can say is search SubyMods and you should be set, its just a lot of bolts and screws..........

:( :(

Has anyone here done this before?

I did it like 3 years ago. I also bent the bejesus out of my oil pan when my block of wood between my jack and engine crumbled, and I dropped the motor on the jack. I also had to replace the up-pipe/header gaskets 3 times before finally going to a flex up-pipe to stop the leaks.

So I guess, I've done it twice. On my own car. And that's why I don't offer to help other people... it's a shitty install. Normally I'm one to recommend that people do their own work, but this is one job that can be done at home that I would suggest taking to a shop. Unless you simply can't afford the shop, the headaches aren't worth it.

He did most the uppipe as I finished the rest of the exhaust. But we had it done pretty damn fast with the way he did it. Just make sure not to unscrew both bolts all the way since it is a pain to get them in right after that.

I was ready to do mine. After hearing from many what a pain in the ass it is, and after speaking with Nate @ S Squared, I decided it is going to be faster to drive to Sac, have Nate install it, have a lunch and a few beers, and drive back to Reno.

Money well spent.

WRXRallyBlue 2005-04-04 07:54 AM

Well then, I guess I'll have to cough up the money and have it installed. Comes in tomorrow, let you guys know my impressions.
