Atwater autocross
 

It looks like i'm gonna be down there this weekend, If anybody is interested in going, pm me we can discuss plans or something. I'm from Merced, and I used to live 10 min. from Castle air force base, so I know my way around that area, can probably show some people an alright time! :)

Sweet Man, I can;t go, but I hear that is a really sweet venue.

I've never been there when castle hosted a big venue like this weekend, But I do know the tarmac rocks, and the area is pretty decent size, iirc last time i was there the "fast" cars were running like 1:05 laps, without a crossover. So......

Well, Scott, Pat, Austin, Dean, Debbie have all run there if I'm not mistaken, and said it was fast.

I'm signed up for the national tour event this weekend. (Likely getting my butt kicked by at least 2 other lady drivers who are national champions, but it's a great experience and a chance to visit with folks I haven't seen in awhile.) I don't know when my run group is yet, though.

I'm still up for going out sometime in the next month or two for one of the AAX events.

I don't think I'm going to bother with a National Tour event this season since it's a ton of work for 6 runs... and I'm gonna get creamed in SM.

However, I'm totally down for an AAX event assuming I can fit it in my schedule.

Well, I got creamed in my class, but Saturday's course was one of the most thrilling experiences I have had in autox. While I don't think I exceeded 60mph on any part of the course, the g-forces were amazing. They laid out a wide open fast course, with a few places where you had to 'thread the needle' to get through cleanly, and finally come flying in through the finish.

I have the Koni shocks now, and combined with the grippy pavement and the hoosiers, I could not believe how well the car stuck. I had a bad time with cones though, and am guessing I need to learn to turn in a split second later than I'm used to with the new equipment.

I hope you guys get a chance to get out to an American Autox series event there this year. I forgot how much fun that site is.

It was my pleasure!! The course looked amazingly fast, I can't even imagine how fast it felt! There was a butt-load of cars out there too. I wish I could've stayed longer.

How did you do Chris? What class were you in? STS or DSP?

I've heard there was a big debacle in STX.

I didn't run, I was there to visit La Familia, but just happened to plan the visit that weekend. :D

Yeah, FINALLY a WRX was leading stx on Saturday - then he got protested, I think for his lower control arms combined with camber plates.

TSK TSK! That's a known no-no! In the rear, you can have adjustable latteral links, camber plates, or camber bolts pick one! If he was running two of 'em, that's his fault... everyone in STX at that level should know better.

As far as Atwater, that place is a *great* facility. The tarmac's quite harsh, but the shape of the site lends itself to some awesome courses.

It looks like June 4-5 is the next AAX event at Atwater that doesn't conflict with anything already on our schedule. I might want to hit that up for some Atwater fun!

BTW: I just added the AAX schedule to our calendar!

How about this time you bring the Mustang up, and I'll co-drive it! That 5 hour drive from Reno on my race suspension is a PITA!

How about Me and Austin co drive your WRX? You can spray water on the tires or something.

You haul it down there on the trailer, and I'll race the Titan. :lol:

Edit: I got a better idea... you guys drive my WRX, but you have to talk Carrie into letting me race her Mini. ;)

So is mine! :lol: Your drive is actually shorter than mine.. at least according to Yahoo. My car is in street mode too, I have the camber plates oriented so I won't be able to get much negative camber to make the front end grip... and I don't want to take it apart again.

I'll bring the SVX... as long as you promise to pay for the new bearings in the rear. :lol:

I made it home on Sunday night in 3.25 hrs. from the gas station at Atwater, to my I-80 exit. I wasn't speeding (much).

I made it home in three and fifteen too. That was through 88,and all that jackson crap. I was :ahem: hauling.
