Doink.net is moving....

As some of you may have heard, my current site host is going through some changes. My ex-employer was super kind to let my site stick around since I stopped working there. However, I've always had some friends in the IT dept that were willing to help out with the maintenece. Since they've recently left the company, I feel uncomfortable leaving Doink on their servers, requiring people to maintain it free of charge that have no personal aquaintence with me.

So, Doink is looking for a new home. I think I've got a spot lined up, but I want to make sure everything is green before I make announcements.

What's important right now:

- I am currently putting a lock down on the gallery, and attachments. I don't want to add any new files to the system. I will be backing up everything ASAP to my local machine for storage until I can move it to a new site.

- The forums will continue to operate, and I will attempt to maintain a daily backup of the database in order to preserve the content should the site unexpectedly go down.

Once the new location is ready, I will attempt to bring it back up under the new seccs.org URL. Doink.net will be only my personal site, with my photo gallery, and other crap that nobody cares about anyway , but will still link to the forums for people that may still find us via the older URL.

I hope to spool up on the new location with a cleaner meet gallery, user pages, and user gallery uploads, as well as the forums. Of course, this will all take time, and I'm not sure when I'll be able to complete it all, but I will do my best to keep any downtime to a minimum.

Contribution available, for cost to register new website, or hardware/host.

Hopefully, nothing like that will be needed. However, I am thinking about trying to make some seccs T-Shirts or something to help subsidize the site... I just don't want to take money for nothing.

Hey Scott, I have already spoken to one of my best friends who is a co owner of a local tech company...there is a chance he can squeeze us onto one of his servers for nada,,,how much space do we take up anyway? He gets back into town this week, (and he may come out to Autocross to check it out) so we will see....

But, like Debi said, I would be more than willing to help out with anything needed for the site...T shirts included, i have a good connection there too...
See ya.

I think I might be able to change your crappy name if you want me to :P PM me!

And the forums should make the move intact, no changes... or so I'm hoping...

Hopefully soon, I'm just waiting on my new account to get setup. Details once everything is up and running!
