Tool for removal of crank pulley?

I need some help with installing my underdrive pulley. Does anyone have the tool to remove the crank pulley? I'm not trying shred my clutch doing it with just a socket. Can anyone help?

AFAIK, the tool to remove a crank pully *is* a big-ass socket and breaker bar. That's how I did mine. If that doesn't work, chances are your gonna need to bring it to a shop w/ a torch to get it off.

And what's gonna happen to your clutch?

Last time I used a chain wrench (don't clamp it down too tight - it holds quite well). Scott's way should work, I think.

ScottyS 2005-06-04 01:47 PM

Oh - if you need to use it, feel free. Are you doing it today?

wierd just did mine the other day too. 22mm 1/4 drive 2 foot breaker bar and a roomate on the brakes. broke that bastard loose no problem.

My only question is how the hell to measure 9-11 mm of play @ 22lbs of force. i think my belts are too tight cause im neurotic like that

anyone gonna be around during the morning or early afternoon with the tools to help me replace that pulley tomorrow? Help?

ScottyS 2005-06-07 04:51 AM

Kevin M 2005-06-08 01:23 AM

If you want to bring it by Friday afternoon, I can help.

SlickNick112 2005-06-08 09:51 AM

Thanks Kevin, I might just do that. I'll get in touch with you for directions. Any particular time? I would have to do it by 3:00. cool?

Kevin M 2005-06-08 03:21 PM

I get home from work around 2 AM, so after 11 is fine. I'll try to remember to PM you directions tonight, it's really easy.

Seriously I'm not sure that the whole job took five minutes. You'd say we're nucking fut's for using the starter, the breaker bar, and the car frame. Wall'la. Bang, boom, and chink. we had a limp breaker bar with a loose crank bolt on the end. Thanks again Phil for the help. Kevin, thanks for the offer. Sleep in extra long tomorrow.
