ARGH!!! My mouf!

So I woke up today at about quarter to 8 and realized that today was the 15th, and I needed to be over by Kirman and Mill by 8 to get a goddamn filling in my teef.

Somehow I was only 10 minutes late. And the procedure was so quick, I was at work by 9.

But now, my damn mouth is still all numbed up. I hate this feeling! I wonder how many times I've bit my cheek. :( I'd almost rather have some pain than the 3 hours of no feeling on the right half of my face.

I'm just getting over getting my wisdom teeth pulled. I had to have part of my jaw bone removed to get one of them out. That friggen' hurt.

I remember that too... butI was put under for the procedure, since 2 of mine were impacted. 'Course the next day I felt great (swelling hadn't started yet) so I went out to Laguna Seca to watch AtomicLabMonkey drive at Skip Barber. By day 2, I was dying! At least I had Vicoden.

Worst offer ever.

"Hey, free punch on a guy that won't feel it! Just hope he doesn't punch back."

AtomicLabMonkey 2005-08-15 10:11 AM

Better to get punched in a numb mouth than in the spleen by some asshole after he kisses your sister and says he hates you.

sti deede 2005-08-15 10:27 AM

Is this a tale about Scott? heehee.

AtomicLabMonkey 2005-08-15 10:29 AM

Oh yes... I'll let him explain if he wants to. :D

I had just gotten over being sick with Mono around August '99, and my doctor had warned me, "now don't go playing any contact sports for the next 6 months" due to some side effect of Mono that makes your spleen susceptible to splitting. Now I didn't really play a lot of contact sports, but my roommate Glen liked to randomly sucker-punch me to start a good-natured roommate brawl on occation.... why I'll never know. Anyway, I told Glen to lay off for 6 months so I don't end up having to go to the emergency room w/ a ruptured spleen. Glen tells me, "alright, but I'm gonna punch you in the spleen as soon as the 6 months are up!"

Anyway, fast forward to New Year's Eve 1999... the Cal Poly SLO crew (including Austin and Glen, whose bordering on internationally notorious by now), and my sister go to South Lake Tahoe for the party. Midnight comes and we're in the crowd cheering and I turn around to see Glen kiss my sister for the New Year. He sees me and get's this "oh shit" look on his face. Then he proceeds to sucker punch me right in my spleen... "It's been 6 months, Happy New Year you fucker!"

The funniest part was the next morning when we're drinking mimosas and he tells me, "Dude! It's been 6 months, I get to punch you in the spleen!" and I had to explain to him that he already did punch my spleen the night before... right after kissing my sister.

Back on topic: The numbness is wearing off. So far it looks like I escaped biting my cheek. :)

However, I feel like there's something stuck between my teeth now... I gotta get used to the filling I guess.

I got a "composite" filling. I was hoping for carbon fiber (I hear that stuff's hard to damage) but they just used that white crap that hardens under a blue laser. :(

Thanks for making me laugh Scott.
Carbon fiber filling.

I didn't like the filling the dentist, Dr. Crouse, did for me. Now the dental floss gets stuck and breaks in between my molars. :( I too got a composite filling. Also it isn't smooth my one other filling. I hate fillings.

Yeah... I haven't flossed yet since the filling, but I have a feeling I'm in for the same deal. It only took him about 5 minutes to do the job... so he's either a bad-ass, or his attention to detail isn't all that high.

I'm inclined to think he's near retirement and "just going throught the motions" since he was about to give me the "all clear" at my last checkup until I mentioned some pain in the tooth that I just had filled. Then he checked again and said: "oops, looks like you'll need a filling!"

Oh well, at least there's still some hot chicas working there.

I think that it's definately #2. I wasn't impressed. My favorite dentist in Reno is Dr. Larry Gilman. The dude is really gentle and thorough. Last time I was there they also had hot hygentists. I'd recommend him, if your ever in the market for a new dentist. Plus his office is right across the street from meadowwood mall. (on neil).

Good luck with the filling. I need to get mine fixed.

Well, by lunch, the novicane had pretty much worn off. No pain at all, and I ate lunch w/o an issue. I didn't realize how much I was favoring one side of my mouth until the pain's gone! I can chew on the right side again! :D

See, but then you'd be blingin' so hard you'd hurt your teefs ;)
